MIM ~ Creating Mixed Background Texture

Did you all see the video from Stephanie over at the PTI blog showing how she Creates Mixed Background with Texture?  Go check it out...it is pretty awesome!
I have two cards to share using this technique:
I stamped my leaves off the paper once and then stamped it on the card to give a little lighter inking.
Then I stamped my Botanical Bounty flowers and added some colored pencils to highlight both the flowers and the leaves.  I used the hexagon cover plate for the added texture
I liked it so well, I tried one more card"
this Beautiful Berries: Spring set has a small little cluster of flowers and that is what I used for the top background, again, I stamped it off so it would be lighter than the original bouquet.  I again used the hexagon cover plate and added a sentiment on a banner from Fresh Bouquet.  My bling is PPP marshmallow confetti.

And do you remember the birthday pop up card I made with an elephant?  Well, I made another one...
do you see the top of the hand?  Any ideas what that might belong to?  I had to draw it myself...
The little monkey from Tremendous Treats...I thought it was so cute, I just had to use him holding the balloons and floating away.  I probably should have checked my position before gluing him down, then his hand wouldn't have been showing!  ha ha
Well that is all for me folks, time to relax for the evening!
Yeah tomorrow is Friday!
I only have four more days to get my crafting in...then friends I am having a total knee replacement bright and early Tuesday morning.  I think I will be out of commission for awhile, so bear with me, I will get around to visiting when I can!

A new Make It Monday is up on the blog, you can check out Melissa's video HERE.
this is what I used to make this card:
PTI Mix & Mat Pretty Brackets
PTI Pop Up Butterflies
PTI Life is Beautiful
PTI Stemmed Sentiments (sentiment)

We are going for another record 100 degree day friends...this is three in a row and several prior to these in the high 90's!  Too bad I have a  2 1/2 hour seminar on total joint replacement right in the middle of the day!  Otherwise I would just stay in my room with the fan blowing on me and play all day long!  Hope you all are keeping cool and safe!  Now I am off to bring a lunch and dinner to my 97 + year old dad, who by the way is still living at his home, alone!

MIM Inchie Elements ~ with Lexi Daly

I needed a birthday card for a great nephew who is turning three on Wednesday, and my BFF had given me some "Inchies" for a gift a few years back...I still had a couple of them, so perfect timing to make this card and use the inchies made for this challenge at Papertrey Ink:  Make It Monday:  Inchie Elements!
Now that my card is sealed in the envelope, I wish I had colored around the trucks to make them pop more...oh well, it is for a 3 year old...he won't care, and it will probably go in the recycle bin anyway!

MIM # 316 Stenciled Edges

Hi friends, I was on a road trip from St Louis, Missouri to home, Oregon...and I tried posting this card on the trip, but couldn't get good cell service, so gave up, then the more I thought about the card I made, the more I decided I wanted to change the background stenciling.  As soon as I got home I  redid the card.  This is for the MIM # 316 Stenciled Edges and Lizzie demonstrated how she does it HERE
It really is a nice way to add extra texture and draw your eye into the focal images.
Actually I made this card first:
And decided, it was okay but I would try something else...so I made this one:

As you can see, I used the same flowers, just changed up the background, since I had the leaves in a gray color, I thought I should sponge on the background in gray also.  What do you think?  Did I totally blow it?
I am just glad that I got home in time to post it to the challenge!
Happy Easter everyone!

MIM #313 Mask & Stack

Wasn't the little cat so cute over at the PTI blog?
Betsy masked and stacked those cute little kittens in the video for the MIM.
I tried the cute little fox from Hello Foxy and it didn't turn out so great...take a look:
I realized that every fox on the right as you look at the picture, has a tail in the face!  so clearly I could not start in the center and go both ways and mask
so then I started at the right and masked and moved to the left.  Well, that just looked boring to me, so I bagged that idea and moved onto the balloons..which turned out fine, just not as cute as stacked kittens!  I did cut out the balloons by hand so that I wouldn't have the white space between each stamped image.
Thanks for stopping by friends!!

MIM ~ Framing Sentiments

Laurie has a video up HERE showing how she likes to frame sentiments to draw your eye to it, or you could have an image inside the frame too.  I chose the sentiment and made my frame using two die cuts.  And of course more of the Farmer's Market Florals.  The sentiment is from Bigger Blooms

I like this design and will try to remember to use it more often!!

MIM A La Carte!

For the first MIM of the New Year 2017 A La Carte, Papertrey always gives us a chance to go back and play with a challenge that we were unable to do during the year.
I don't remember doing #276 Kraft & colored pencils with Melissa Phillips!
I pulled out Botanical Blocks III and stamped on kraft then colored with prisma colored pencils.
My card is mounted on a soft stone card that I embossed with the linen impression plate for a subtle background.  The sentiment is from Through the Trees.

PTI ~ Love of Layers

This card is for the current MIM over HERE where Laurie Schmidlin adds lots of wonderful layers to her card.  I  love when other people make a card with layers, I usually don't love mine, but this time I really like this.  I added extra depth to the card by running my versamark around the edges and white embossing it, I had also sponged some white ink around the edges.  I stamped and embossed white snowflakes and added die cut snowflakes from both white cs and vellum.  I had to add a couple of branches from the Beautiful Berries: Winter.  the final touch was some nuvo white drops to mimick snowflakes.  Here is Laurie's card:

MIM # 296 Small Images on repeat

Lexi has a video up for a new MIM, you can watch it HERE.
She shows us how to use those smaller stamps in the sets we buy and repeat it on the card.
This little cluster of pumpkins came from Vintage Picnic!
The sentiment is from Autumn Hills.

Lexi's Card is below
Small images hello squ

Hope you all are having a great week...we have terrible fires here and the air quality is very poor, it looks like low clouds all day, we can't see the blue sky, still plenty hot though!
Good time to stay indoors and out of the not so fresh air!

Make It Monday #268: Double-Layer Tags

So happy to see Dawn back creating, if only for a short time.
I know she is going through her own health crisis now and praying a solution and decision can be made that will help her to heal.
I used the Tags # 8 for my double Layers.
My bottom layer was a piece that I had made from an MIM a while ago where I brushed on two colors in opposite directions to give it a linen texture look.  My What the Doodle: Ornament was die cut from a scrap piece of water colored paper.

Make It Monday # 266 That's a Wrap!

That's A Wrap is the video Lexi has over at Capture the Moment for this weeks MIM.
She has three download pages from her blog to help with positioning your stamps on the gift paper.  I used a couple of stamps from Nativity Silhouettes.
Wrappingpaper+inks2
Hope you all had a great Halloween.  We had a wonderful night...perfect temperature for walking around the neighborhood!  We don't get any Trick or Treaters because we are out in the country.  We always took our girls over to my in-laws to walk their neighborhood and my daughter goes to her in-laws to do the same.  Her MIL makes a big batch of chile and cornbread, has desserts and treats and we have a good time enjoying the company and answering the door.  She buys the full size candy bars and word gets around that is the house to visit!!

MIM Background Building with Frames

Background Building with Frames is the new MIM this week by Amy.
I used the dies from Don't Forget to Write and the beautiful leaves, nuts and berries from Color Pop Autumn and a couple of wheat stalks from Paper Clippings:  Thankful for you.
This was a new to me technique and one I like...I will try to use this again, if I remember *wink!

Half way through the week...on Friday I am driving to Bend, Oregon to watch Ellie play in her high school varsity volleyball tournament!

MIM Shadowing with Copic Markers

I finally got to play this afternoon and couldn't resist the technique by Danielle over at Capture the Moment for this weeks Make It Monday!

It is all about adding extra depth to your die cuts by going around the top and bottom edges with a copic marker.  Can you see mine?  It was V00,
I used the Big Hugs stamp and die set and also the flower blossom from Spring Woods.
My frame is PTI Cover Plate Frame Die,
This is Danielle's card:
Friends1-2
 Keep cool...we had 100, 101 and 92 today...a little cooler (maybe) tomorrow!
