Seize the Birthday ~ with a touch of red!

Hi friends!  We are winding down Seize the Birthday Challenge for the year... to take a break and celebrate the holidays with friends and family!
Our last challenge of 2019 is hosted by Glenda and she asked for a touch of RED on our birthday card!

I used a cute little balloon from a retired company called Life of the Party by Fresh Squeezed Stamps.  My sentiment is a die from PTI and the stamped sentiment is PTI Birthday Cheer.
We will be back in 2020!
In the meantime, I will look for your touch of red card in the gallery!
If you don't want to play along with the topping, then just make any kind of birthday card!

Seize the Birthday ~ confetti

Welcome to a NEW YEAR!!
Let's take care of business before we get to card making!
First I want to welcome our Jan and Feb GUEST designer:  Julie, you can find her HERE at Crafted by Jules.
And we have a new designer joining our team, please welcome Catherine Roffey, you can see her blog HERE.
The topping to start out the New Year for Seize the Birthday is confetti!  Who doesn't love opening an envelope and having fun confetti pieces pop out, or confetti and streamers falling from the ceiling?  Or just laying a sprinkling of confetti on the table around the cake and fun birthday dishes?  You get the idea...
Here is what I came up with:
I used a PTI cover plate that had all these little circles and star holes for confetti, I actually colored in the spots and then added the balloons. Doesn't it look like the confetti is falling around the balloons?

Friends, if you don't want to play around with confetti, you are always welcome to make any kind of birthday card!  Now go check out the rest of the team and all the inspiration they have for you!
See you in the gallery!

Sieze the Birthday ~ birthday balloons

Welcome to another Seize the Birthday Challenge!!
We have a topping this time and it is to have a balloon on your birthday card!!

I die cut a balloon and used the negative to sponge on my colors for all the balloons.  I used distress oxide inks for the sponging.
The die is from Birthday Cheer
and the rest of the sentiment was stamped from Ways to Say: Birthday

Wood is the 5th Tradional Anniversary Gift

Lizzie showed how to use a woodgrain paper or a thin veneer.
I used a woodgrain paper and used kraft ink pad direct to paper, I swiped it a few times to get the depth of color I desired.  It wasn't easy to save all those little dots and inside pieces, only had to selectively die cut two times (LOL).

You get a twofer if you save all the pieces!  *wink

DH said he liked the top one better because it was brighter (what??? I told him I used the same colors! ha ha ha!)  funny man....but he liked the smaller balloons because it was easier to see what they were!
Well, I must say, I liked this technique, because it mostly has to do with paper!
And I have to tell you that the leather from Nichole's video was a total bust...I mean TOTAL, and I tried three times, two times using a different die, but the third die I used the exact die as Nichole...didn't work, first the layers didn't stick, kind of redid it, then it had a big bubble in the center and when I went to add sponge color to it, it didn't help at all to define the flowers or anything...can't win them all I guess!

MIM # 295 Z Fold Card

Well this card only took four tries to get it right...I guess I was having one of those days...smudged
ink on the first, then I realized I had folded the card the wrong way after doing several of the pages (and actually even the smudged one was folded wrong! LOL) On the third try, I asked my BFF, Linda, who is here with me for the SAF coming up in two day, what I did wrong cause it wasn't making sense to me.  So I cut two more pieces for the Z fold card and wouldn't you know it, I did the exact same fold and it was wrong!  Okay, finally I put my focus hat on and made this card the right way!  LOL...I think my friend thought I was just going to give up and NOT do one...!!
Now, I have to tell you I did not like the look from the back side, so I cut out extra balloon dies and glued them onto the back of the pages...I know, a little anal, but I needed to do that!
This is the inside, so you can see I added the balloons to both side of the second fold, and actually in the picture below I did the same thing to the last page...
I used PTI Balloon Bash.  The inside stars was made with a stencil from Heidi Swapp.
The inside sentiment "Happy Birthday" is from Just Desserts!
That's it for me folks, it's a wrap!
PHEW!!  Time to move on to a new challenge!!
Have a great day!!

MIM # 221 ~ Masking Sentiments

Ashley has a video up on Capture the Moment.
It is all about masking off your sentiment and stamping around it, then pulling the masking paper off and stamping your sentiment.
I thought it would be fun to sponge some balloons around the sentiment and let them overlap each other because balloons can be transparent!

Here is her card:
MIM1
I used a die from Simon Says Stamps for the balloons, Inkadinkado masking paper, and the sentiment is from Graceful Greetings.Ink is PTI, a silver Gelly Roll pen for the strings!

Tomorrow I am taking a field trip with three friends, we are driving into Hood River ( about 1 1/2 hour from my house), having lunch, stopping at a Peach Orchard to bring home some yummy juicy peaches and then to an Alpaca Farm to see the baby's and maybe browse through their yarn store!  Should be a fun day with the ladies...although it is supposed to be 100 degrees tomorrow..so that is NOT so good!

Thanks for stopping by!

Seize the Birthday July 16 no topping

Welcome to another Seize the Birthday Challenge!
There is NO topping this time, so make anything you want!

I was reminded about a fun technique that Jennifer McGuire did HERE
about "Spotlight Die Cutting" and Brenda from Inkspired to Stamp reminded me.  I told her I was going to CAS her card because I really liked it!

I had a piece of watercolor paper on my desk and decided to use that for my die cut balloon.
The sentiments and balloon dies are from SSS Birthday Balloons.
The square die cut is MFT stitched mat.

We look forward to seeing what you make for this challenge!

MIM & CASology

I couldn't resist doing another Make It Monday Card
and I am adding it to the CASology Challenge which asks for stripes!
I just love these balloons, especially when there are a whole bunch of them all floating away!
Stamps:  PTI Birthday Style, Stylish Sentiments:  Birthday
I hope you will check out the video by Danielle showing how to use your non border dies as a creative border for your card.  It really is fun and unique!

The Cutting Edge

The Cutting Edge Challenge is new to me,
and when I saw the Bokah demonstrated HERE
I knew I wanted to give it a try.

On a full piece of water color paper I wet it, then brushed in some distress inks.
After it was dry I took a small balloon stamp from SSS and using HA unicorn pigment ink, I stamped the white smaller balloons all over the paper.
After it was all dry I cut them into the strips.
I think I might try this again using different colors and maybe flowers!
Here is the picture for the inspiration for this challenge!

Another "word" card for the 6th day of anniversary challenges.
Stamps:  Birthday Style, Wonderful Words:  Birthday

I die cut the birthday using some masking paper, I laid it down first.
