SEIZE THE BIRTHDAY ~ IT'S A "BANNER" CHALLENGE!

Hi friends!

I am back in the country and it is good to be home.

I will do a separate post to share some pictures of my trip to the Holy Land and London!

Today is a new challenge up at Seize the Birthday and Barbara says let's make it a banner day and show a banner on our birthday card!

You are always welcome to not use the topping (banner), but do make sure it is a birthday card!

I pulled out an older set from PTI called:  Scene it Celebration!

And I used a PTI pattern pack:  Hooray!

It has several dies to go with this set, I used two of them, the balloons and the banner!

This was a fun card to put together and I was glad I could use an older set!

Seize the Birthday ~ HEARTS!

Hi friends!  So glad you stopped by to look at another card for the Seize the Birthday Challenge

the prompt is given to us by our leader Nancy!

There is a VERY special friend whose birthday is actually the day before Valentines so I thought this would be a perfect birthday card for her...it is getting posted a bit early, but maybe she will be surprised to see this in her mail box (oh who am I kidding, she knows who she is...!! and won't be a bit surprised!)

I had fun pulling out Sunny Studios Bold Balloons and inking them up to make a birthday balloon bouquet just for her!  I fussy cut each one too, now isn't that showing some love!

Our "Topping" option this time is...

 

 

If you're not a toppings kinda person, well.....you can just
stick with our usual "Anything Goes"Birthday!

Seize the Birthday Challenge

Hi friends welcome to our Mid July Seize The Birthday Challenge!

Glenda is hosting this challenge and she is asking for a non neutral color for the card base!

I thought pink and red would go well together and I have a granddaughter who just turned 13...yup another teenager in the family, that leaves ONE boy left (2 years to go for him).

I thought this little lady bug was so cute from the Stamping Village:  Happy Birthday!

I used a background stamp from The Greetery: Painterly Stripes stamped with both pink and red inks.

Thanks Glenda for this challenge to not use our typical white, off white or kraft card base!

Seize the Birthday ~ RED - WHITE - BLUE

JoAnn is our hostess this time around and since it is so close to the Fourth of July, we are celebrating birthdays with our topping being RED, WHITE, AND BLUE colors for our Seize the Birthday Challenge!!  And you always welcome to make any kind of birthday card, but the topping is for those colors on your card!

I have a SIL who plays a lot of golf, so I thought this was perfect for him.

Seize the Birthday ~ Watercoloring

Time for another BIRTHDAY CARD made with watercolors for this challenge!

Nancy is our hostess this time around!  And Dotty from Just a Dotty Pudding is here one more time as our Party Guest, so please go check out her card inspiration along with all the team!

I pulled out some water color paper and white heat embossed all these balloons, then I cut them out and used zig water color markers to color them.  I added a bit of blue sky and clouds to the background.  My balloons are from a PTI set called Birthday Balloons!! And the sentiment die is also from PTI.

Seize the Birthday ~ All About Summer!

Hi friends!  I am your hostess this month at Seize the Birthday and I thought we should kick off the month with a tribute to our coming summer season, so I am looking for All things Summer...you know, water, beach,  vacations, even every day flip flops!!

I have a friend that wears flip flops pretty much year round, rain or shine!

Seize the Birthday ~ Spring Fling!

To me, Tulips represent spring, although truth be told, once these tulips show their beauty, the wind and rain come and beat them down!  It seems it never fails and we don't get to enjoy them for long.

Maybe this year will be different, we certainly had a very dry February, maybe April will be more of the same!

And so I chose this beauty for my Spring Fling challenge with Seize the Birthday!

I used Altenew's Exotic Tulips, aren't' they gorgeous?

Seize the Birthday ~ with a touch of red!

Hi friends!  We are winding down Seize the Birthday Challenge for the year... to take a break and celebrate the holidays with friends and family!

Our last challenge of 2019 is hosted by Glenda and she asked for a touch of RED on our birthday card!

I used a cute little balloon from a retired company called Life of the Party by Fresh Squeezed Stamps.  My sentiment is a die from PTI and the stamped sentiment is PTI Birthday Cheer.

We will be back in 2020!

In the meantime, I will look for your touch of red card in the gallery!

If you don't want to play along with the topping, then just make any kind of birthday card!

Seize the Birthday ~ OFF the Edge!

We have another Seize the Birthday Challenge with JoAnn as our hostess and she wants to see images "OFF THE EDGE".  I liked this one a lot and thought it was fun to stamp off the edge. 

 I used watercolor paper and did a touch of watercoloring on the leaves...a very simple card with a little bit of stamping off to give it added dimension.

Seize the Birthday ~ for a KID!

Seize the Birthday is hosted by Lindsey this time and she says, "let's make a card for a kid"!

What kid doesn't love to swing the bat at a PINATA?  

I used an image (Life of the Party) from a retired stamp company, Fresh Squeezed Stamps.

I used a balloon image from the same stamp set and used versamark to get a watermark for the background.  I colored in the pinata with copic.

I hope you will play along with us and make a card for a "kid" and I will see you in the gallery!

Seize the Birthday ~ It's Just a Number!!

Hello Friends!  I am hosting this challenge over at Seize the Birthday and the topping is: 

IT'S JUST A NUMBER!

My Grandson is turning 20 in just a couple of weeks, I think he will get a big kick out of this cards!

I used a free digi stamp from Gerda Steiner, love this big bear holding that yummy looking cupcake.

I used a big dot stencil for the background and some striped paper on the side!  How did he get to be 20 already?  It seems like just yesterday I was rocking him!  *wink

Seize the Birthday ~ Square Card ~

The hostess this challenge at Seize the Birthday is Glenda and she asked us to make a square card!

Well friends I had to pull out my Gina K wreath builder stencils and make a square card.

I selected my image from a new stamp from Sweet & Sassy called All Wrapped Up.

I liked the big gift and colored it in the center.

Then using the wreath builder I was able to line up my sentiment and stamp it on all four sides.

Seize the Birtheday ~ Butterflies ~

Barbara is our hostess and she asked for us to make a birthday card with butterflies!

I love butterflies, I plant flowers so that I can attract them to my yard!

This is a PTI set called Color Pop:  Butterflies!  It was a mini kit and it came with stencils and stamps and the card stock to make the above card...I just needed to fill in all the white space!

I used both stencils and stamps to complete the card, I love how it looks, so bright and festive and definitely full of butterflies!

The sentiment is a stamp and die set also from PTI called Bold & Beautiful.

We encourage you to make a butterfly birthday card, but you are always welcome to make any kind of card as long as it is always a birthday one!

Seize the Birthday ~ With flowers ~

Welcome to another challenge over at Seize the Birthday with Vicki as our hostess.

She is looking for flowers on our BIRTHDAY CARDS.

 I thought a nice bouquet would be a good touch for a birthday card!

Seize the Birthday with RAINBOWS!!

I think this is going to be one fun Challenge at Seize the Birthday!

It is all about RAINBOWS and I can hardly wait to see all the rainbows popping up!

I chose to use a flower stencil and brush on the colors of the rainbow starting with red in the center.

This is what I used:

Ranger Letter it Stencil: Flower Burst

Catherine Pooler Inks

Golden Glossy Gel Medium

Hero Arts butterfly Die: Delicate Butterfly Fancy

Avery Elle:  cake & candles (sentiment)

After the ink was dry, I laid the stencil back down and applied the glossy gel medium.  I think it adds a nice shine to the flower and texture too!

And then I just had to add a butterfly, but I didn't want it to distract from the rainbow flower, so I cut it out in vellum.

Seize the Birthday ~ Cover the Card

Hi friends!  Our Seize the Birthday Challenge by Ashwini is to cover the card!  In other words, NOT CAS with lots of white space!  Fill up the face of the card friends!

Here I have a photo paper where I smooshed ink into the background using Distress Oxide inks.  I did one color at a time and let it dry in between. I even used a heating tool to speed up the process.

When it was dry, I put the flower stamp into my MISTI and stamped it several times.

When that was dry, I took a baby wipe and with circular motion, I wiped over the flower images, it made it so more vibrant and so lovely!
