Altenew Academy Day 4 Building a Multi colored Bouquet

A lot of masking with this one friends, but Kelly sure does know how to make a striking card!
To see her card, you will need to take this wonderful One Layer Wonder Class from Kelly over at the Altenew Academy!
I used so many stamp sets to get my bouquet and I fussy cut each one...well, I did have the dies, but then I had to go around each one to be closer to the outline of each stamp.
Altenew:  Beautiful Day
Altenew:Peonie Bouquet
Altenew: Painted Rose (sentiment)
Altenew: Remember This
Altenew:  Poppy Fields
Kelly has a tip for stamping the sentiment over your colored image and still having it POP, but keeping it a ONE-LAYER card!

Another NBUS Stamp for the 12 Challenge

Another stamp that has not seen ink before today!  This is PTI Sunflower Harvest from August!
I loved using all these bright colors for the sunflower...not your typical sunflower colors, but that is the privilege we get when we make our own cards, right?
To read the rules and enter to win some fabulous prizes, you can go HERE to Darnell's NBUS Challenge #12!
Darnell, I do NOT need to win a prize!  thank you friend!

SAF Guest Laura Bassen ~ paper, paper, and more paper

Don't you just love all things Laura Bassen?
I had to challenge her because I love what she does with rainbows!
I used the cover plate: hexagon in all the rainbow colors, then die cute some Life is beautiful butterflies out of vellum, my simple sentiment is from Keep it Simple: thinking of you.

I am minutes away from another video, so no time to chat! Hope you all are enjoying this Friday and playing along!  I don't even have time to check out what everyone else is doing, so stressed about keeping up with the time table!!  LOL

Color Throwdown # 449

Hi friends!
Well 8th grade graduation is done and high school graduation is done and so is the party I had for my grandson who finished the high school years!  Now I can kick back and relax and enjoy the garden and clean patio...watch the hummers and the butterflies and the beautiful dragonflies zip around the yard! I need to get busy on some card making because I am going to be gone a lot this summer!
I will be home the third week in July but gone again until August 14...I will keep you posted on my whereabouts through FB if you are interested!
So this card is for the Color Throwdown Challenge.

I used watercolor paper and my zigs to color the flowers and leaves.  The little berry balls were actually colored with the orange distress ink pens.  My sentiment is from the PTI Pen & Ink.
Yes, my gingham (An MFT stamp from Textile Background) is brown, stamped with PTI chocolate brown as is the sentiment.  It does look a little black in the picture, but it isn't.

Just Us Girls Challenge # 356 Watercolor

Thank you for stopping again at the Just Us Girls Challenge.  This is my second week to be the guest over there!  And it has been fun to be with those other amazing designers!
This week it is all about watercolor!!
This technique was one I learned and practiced quite a bit during the Papertrey SAF a few weeks ago.  Kay Miller was the "Master" Water color artist.  If you want to watch her video you can go HERE and try it out yourself!  I am NOT in her league, but I sure had fun playing around with this technique and thought I would put it to use for you in this challenge!

MIM # 257 Sentiment strip Grounding

Lexi has a video over at Make It Monday showing us how she uses strips to 'ground' her images.  I pulled out the Forget Me Not set and put them into a Mega Gracious Vase and added my 'table' to ground everything.
Nice technique, one I often forget to do!
Thanks for stopping by!  Glad for the rain today, no guilt stamping!!

Color Throwdown # 398

Oh, I love the colors for this weeks challenge over a the
I inked up some flower stamps from My Monthly Hero March and colored them with copics.
I did a little masking too!
My hot pink ( RV14, RV17, RV19) didn't end up looking too hot pink (the two flowers on either side of the sunflower), so I added a piece of the raspberry fizz paper for my background.  The little flowers on the end (I guess they could be leaves!) I colored with R27, R29.  My sunflower I kept yellow using Y11, Y13, Y15.
My sentiment is from Essentials by Ellen:  Mondo Hydrangea.

CAS(E) this Sketch # 174

I took a break from planting flowers to make a card!
There is a sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch
and you all know I am needing sympathy and the praying for you kind of cards, I love this flower image from Altenew called Best Mom.
I colored it up with copics (greens: YG03,G14,BG13 and violets: BV00, V15, V17)
I am playing with different combinations of colors, I would never have thought to use BG13 with my greens for leaves, but I really like it!!

My sentiment is from a Technique Tuesday:  Appreciated, I embossed it on vellum.
Here is the inside of the card:
and here is the sketch:
I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday weekend and remember all our men and women fighting for our freedom.

Just Us Girls # 343

Hi friends, I have a very rainy Sunday here, so I don't have to feel guilty about playing inside!
Today I am joining JUGS again, I saw that they were asking for vellum as that seems to be the trend these days.  And oddly enough I have three cards that I used vellum!  Just a coincidence too!
I first saw this technique called Watercolor Bleaching by Kelly over at her blog.
I thought I would give it a try with some random stamps from the SOA called Enchanted Garden by Sugar Pea Designs.  I white embossed all my flowers and leaves, then I used four distress inks and blended them all over and over again.  I started with wild honey at the bottom and worked my way up, then I used abandoned coral, fired brick and worn lipstick.
The bleaching happens (without bleach!) by using water on a brush and then dabbing it off .  Because distress inks react to water, it pulls the color out and makes it look like it was bleached out.

My sentiment is from PTI called Bold & Beautiful and it was stamped and embossed with white on vellum.  I also splattered water drops from my paintbrush, and I wanted some white drops too, so I used a pin and my pearl acrylic paint to make some small white dots.

The last thing I did was use copics to go around the outline of the stamps being careful to not touch the embossed outline with my copic pen.

CAS Mix Up May Challenge

My friend had a new to me stamp from Mama Elephant called Butterfly Kisses and I had to play with it!  I white embossed the flowers and leaves and water colored with zig real brush markers.
I stamped the YOU and embossed the rest of the sentiment with white embossing powder.
I like this set and it has more wonderful sentiments... we are going to Impress tomorrow, I may have to purchase it if they still have it in stock!
This is going to the CAS Mix Up Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!

Create Along with Us!

Oh Man, when I saw today's release I knew I had to play with my butterflies!!
I loved everyone's cards with the new Color Pop: Butterflies!
I chose Amy's card and I used Beautiful Butterflies.  Now this was a little tricky because I also loved her darker background (brown), so I stamped and added some of the "layers" to the butterflies, I also added some copics to the butterlies!!
I had to do this in stages so that I could stamp again with versarmark and clear emboss the images.  When I was all done with stamping and embossing, I sponged on some antique linen distress ink.  THEN, I took it to the iron and melted off the embossing paste!
No more shine, but a real soft texture to the card!
I also used the little flower cluster from the color Pop: Flowers!
Here is Amy's card:
I loved the divided panel, a signature from Maile I believe!!
I also die cut the Thanking of You three times from Graceful Greetings!
Wow, it took a few hours, but I love the end result!!

Muse # 149

The Muse Challenge this week is by Tracey McNeely!
I love her clean and simple style of card making!!
I decided to pull out an MFT stamp:  Forget Me Not
Even though it is not in blue, I decided to pick up one of the colors Tracey used on the flowers, plus there are three of them!  And I loved her swirly green stem and leaves!
I think I need to make a couple of more cards, I have two aunts in their 90's that I could send these cards..they would love them!

Have a great day!

Altenew Water color class Day 2 Smooshing

I think we are all familiar with the "smooshing" technique.
After it was dry I cut a 1 inch strip and adhered it to the side of my card, added a strip of gold glitter tape too.  The flower is Altenew Persian Motifs.
having fun... I have a couple more to post....I watercolored my paper last night and let it dry, then put the cars together this morning!

Muse # 148

The Muse this week is by Anita...I liked the clean and simple design she had, although truth be told, I had trouble looking for something that resembled what she had.
I found this small scroll with tiny leaves in a sentiment set from PTI called Choose Joy, I had to stamp it three times across the page. Then I looked for a small flower that would work and I found one in Lawn Fawn's Penelope's Blossoms.
The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted:  Thinking of You.

Have a good week!

Muse # 147

I love the Muse inspiration by Michelle.
I love the black and white and the oval, which for some reason I seldom use!
I was thinking about another sympathy card, because I get the most requests for those,
but I decided a sweet 'thinking of you' would work on the outside, then if it needs to be a sympathy that can go inside, or if it needs to be a praying for you, this will still work.

stamps & dies:  PTI: Winter Woods & Words of Comfort; Li'l Inkers stitched ovals; WPlus9 Holiday Boughs
paper:  MFT Dots & Stripes Neutrals paper Pad

Make It Monday ~ Two toned Stamped Sentiments

Danielle has a video up over at the Capture the Moment Blog showing  Two-Toned Stamped Sentiments.  Wow, she really made some cool cards and it is really easy to do...so go check it out.  This is the horizontal striped cover plate in Berry Sorbet, and I just happen to have some embossing powder that is a perfect match for that color.  It is a "pink" Rangers embossing powder.  My flowers and butterfly are from the Quilted Summer Stamp set.
The little sequin gold hearts are from Pretty Pink Posh.
Thanks for taking a look!
My granddaughter's team won the match last night and she played in all three games!
Tonight there is another match, we just love watching her play!

The Card Concept ~ Daisies!

I colored up a bunch of yellow daisies (makes me think of the song:  We met in a field of yellow diaisies... by Charlie Rich) from the Lawn Fawn set called Happy harvest.
I used a lot of copics in the shades of yellow to orange.
The sentiment is a Lawn Fawn die:  Thinking about you which I die cut three times.  I colored a bit of blue around the daisies.
I am linking this card to The Card Concept Challenge.

Happy Friday Friends!
Have a great weekend!
Heart Hugs!

After sitting with this card on my desk I decided I did not like the orange for the word die...just didn't pop out enough, so I cut it in black and glued it to the top of the stack.  I think this is better.  Also, I added wink of stella to all the flowers, now they sparkle and shine!

Autumn Cards

I had sponged a lot of distress inks onto a piece of paper and die cut all the leaves from Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves and Small Stitched leaves.  These were leftover from another card I made.  OMG, I noticed my dashed white line did not go all the way up the side...I fixed it, so the card is alright, the picture is NOT, sorry about that!
I do love Fall when the world is just full of all those awesome colors, the yellows, golds, oranges, reds and greens, I LOVE IT!  And I must admit to loving the shorter days and even cooler or rainy ones because then I don't feel so guilty playing in the studio all day!
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.

PTI's September "Create Along With Us"!

OMG It was hard to pick just ONE inspiration card from this release!
I combined two of Dawn's cards and came up with this"
I used Tucked In:  Thinking of You and a Die from the Mat Stack 4 collection (selectively cut!) and then some stamps and dies from Quilted:  Autumn.
I layered a piece of orange Zest pattern paper and then a piece of PTI vellum over the top.
