I decided I needed some felt butterflies...no cookies, but I might make some to have while my BFF and I sit in the room all day and play with SAF!

Oh Man, when I saw today's release I knew I had to play with my butterflies!!

I loved everyone's cards with the new Color Pop: Butterflies!

I chose Amy's card and I used Beautiful Butterflies.  Now this was a little tricky because I also loved her darker background (brown), so I stamped and added some of the "layers" to the butterflies, I also added some copics to the butterlies!!

I had to do this in stages so that I could stamp again with versarmark and clear emboss the images.  When I was all done with stamping and embossing, I sponged on some antique linen distress ink.  THEN, I took it to the iron and melted off the embossing paste!

No more shine, but a real soft texture to the card!

I also used the little flower cluster from the color Pop: Flowers!

I loved the divided panel, a signature from Maile I believe!!

I also die cut the Thanking of You three times from Graceful Greetings!

Wow, it took a few hours, but I love the end result!!

Freshy Made Sketches # 188

There is a sketch up for the new Freshly Made Sketches.

I decided to do the partial die cutting again with a butterfly for my design.

Since I wanted a sympathy card, I wanted to keep it pretty simple.

I sponged on the background with some distress inks.

Now that I look at it I think I need some sequins, so I think I will add those!

This is my last full day with Linda...we have been having fun trying new techniques and playing with water brush pens.  It is always fun to be inspired by a good friend!

MIM # 212 Fussy Cutting

Ashley has a video up at PTI blog showing how she fussy cuts around words that do not have dies!

I stamped and fussy cut just like she showed...I used the word from Life is Beautiful.

I masked off the card face and then used some distress inks for the background.

The small Beautiful Butterflies were inked up with Versafine black ink.

MIM # 205 confetti Cluster Stamping

I think doing the cut threw for the sentiment didn't work so good this time..not sure if it is because I needed it wider than normal, or if I should have actually cut a section out rather than one cut and separate, if you know what I mean.  The poor bottom butterfly looks a lot distorted!  Could you even tell they are butterflies?

I traced the die and then used these stamps for stamping inside the butterflies:

PTI Anniversary Day 8 ~ BLUE Ombre Challenge

I used some watercolor paper and brushed some reinkers onto the paper using Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky and Enchanted Evening.

I stamped and did some masking of two butterflies from Beautiful Butterflies (I used Spring rain and Blueberry sky). The sentiment is from Wishes Come True.

I added a strip of dark blue metallic paper under the butterfly.

I guess you can tell I am loving Maile's 'style'!

 

PTI Anniversary Day 2 ~ CASing Maile Belles

Maile always does the unexpected and it is always so unique!

She is the queen of cut-a-way.

I kept mine pretty simple, as she usually does also.

I used Beautiful Butterflies (can hardly wait for her new set!)

in a gradient color scheme...aqua mist, Hawaiian shores and finally tropical teal.

The sentiment is from Little Bitty Birds and as she often does I cut the words into strips and adhered them to the card.

Ended with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins! 



SAF back to Ancient Rome and a little Mosiac picture

I had to have DH perform repair work on my xyron

before I could use it...we finally got it working today.

Can you see all the butterflies?

This was a little intense because almost all my little mosaic pieces came out of the backing, so I was putting together a puzzle before I could complete my work...then I was totally missing 6 pieces...so into the garbage can I was digging...pulling out every little piece of paper.  I found 4!

OH NO!  I was just getting ready to use my outer piece as a template and stamp and cut so I could get 2 more pieces to fit into my picture...when for some reason I picked up my arm and found this:

Linda nearly split a gut laughing and I nearly had tears running down my leg!!

 

LOL!!

CAS on Sunday ~ Butterfly

I love butterflies and truth be told I do have more than one butterfly stamp set!!  So I couldn't resist this CAS on Sunday Challenge which asks for butterflies!

I did a little sponging and left my mask on while I stamped my leaves.

This is a PTI impression plate

and the Beautiful Butterflies stamped over it.

I embossed the sentiment with Ranger Liquid Platinum powder.

I decided NOT to add a vellum over the top because I really like seeing the design through the butterflies.

MIM # 152 Layered Dye & Pigment Inks

Over at Capture the Moment , Heather Nichols has a video showing this technique of layering dye ink over pigment ink,also known as velveteen stamping.

I took the Polka dots Basic II set and stamped it up the page using white pigment ink.

Then using winter wisteria, spring rain, and spring moss, I stamped the Beautiful butterflies.

you can see the dots come through the dye ink...a nice soft look to the butterflies.

 

I had a great weekend watching my 12 year old granddaughter play volleyball at the San Jose convention center this last weekend.  There were 149 teams in the 14 and under division.

Her team took 4th place!

We took a tour of Santa Clara University...and had to have a picture on the court.

As a team we also walked the Stanford campus.

I loved watching her play and step up her level of play!

Now I need to catch up on my sleep!!

An anniversary card...

Of all things, I get an email from someone saying she saw one of my anniversary cards and was wondering if I could make one for her first wedding anniversary based on the one she saw, with just some color changes.  Holy Moly!!  I replied and said, YES!  I started immediately working one one, then thought, hmmm...maybe I better look through my blog and make sure I am thinking of the right one...well, I wasn't, so then I made another one.  In the meantime, she answers me and finds out that I live in Oregon and she is in the UK!!  Ha...and she needs the card by next Thursday!  I just didn't know if we should take the chance that the card would arrive in time (she was going out of town to celebrate).  Sadly I wrote back and gave her a few contacts closer to her neck of the woods and I hope it will work out for her.  I now have two cards for my stash!!  This is the card she saw on my blog, you can go HERE to see the original card that caught her eye.  I thought she was looking at one that I did where I used perfect pearls...she wanted two butterflies and she wanted silver and dark red to be used. 

The inside sentiment was generated on the computer as she wrote what she wanted it to say.  I used Beautiful Butterflies from Papertrey Ink and stamped with versamark, then used perfect pearls.  I used a Martha Stewart butterfly punch and added it on top along with three tiny pearls to the center.  The Happy Anniversary is a Hero Arts stamp that was embossed with silver embossing powder.  I mounted the scarlet jewel card onto a shimmer paper and then onto the scarlet jewel card base.

When I realized I was casing the wrong card, I made another one, again, using her colors:

I used a scarlet jewel card and mounted a piece of vellum onto it after stamping some butterflies for the background (I stamped in black, and then stamped off once before stamping onto the vellum so it would be more gray).  The white piece was stamped with PTI BB: tin types in sweet blush and then stamped with the Beautiful Butterflies using Memento London Fog, but I then die cut the butterflies using some of the silver shimmer paper, I also punched the butterflies from Martha Stewart with vellum paper and attached them with glossy accents and added the pearls also.  I didn't have a twine or ribbon that matched that red color, but I did have some white seam binding, so I colored it with copics to match the scarlet jewel.  I am sorry that these cards will not be going to the intended person, but I would be very sad if it did not arrive in time for her anniversary.  It certainly warmed my heart and made me feel good to be asked to make this card for her...and I don't even know her...she just found my blog and saw that anniversary card I made for my daughter!  Sarah I congratulate you and your husband and wish you years of love and happiness!

I had a group of ladies over for lunch (we all went on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje, Croatia three years ago) last week and they bought some of my cards...all the sympathy's and the praying for you cards all left with them!  Is it that time of our life where we are in more need of those cards?  Sad to think about.  But I thought I should start adding to my stash.
