One Layer Wonders Day 6 with Kelly Lavetola

The last day of this One layer Wonder class over at the Altenew Academy taught by Kelly Lavetola.
First thing I notice that I would do differently is leave more space between my sentiment and the hand drawn lines...at least more space between the first top and bottom closest to the sentiment.
And second, I sure need more practice with watercolor because I still get the drying lines and I don't really like them.  Also, one of the reasons I LOVE Altenew stamps is for their magnificent layering, so I didn't have a bouquet stamp for this final technique...I used an Essentials by Ellen, the Mondo Hydrangea.  My background stamp (barely visible) is a PTI "Cover-Up Diamond" stamp.
I did use the Distress Oxide inks and then copics to add the layering.
I learned a lot in this class...it went by fast and every day I looked forward to watching the new video.
thanks for stopping by friends!  Hope you all are having a great day!
My sentiment is from an Altenew set called:  Painted Butterflies!

MIM #289 Building Wreaths with Lizzie

Here is my card for the Make it Monday over at Capture the Moment where Lizzie is using the smaller flower and leaf stamps from sets to make your own wreath.
I pulled out about four sets, but actually only used two of them for my card.
And of course I had to use the new "To the Point Edgers" dies for my card.
this is Lizzie's card:
MIM 289 Thinking Of You Card
stamps:  Forget me Not, Garden Gild, (Birds & Blooms for the "Hello")
inks:  hibiscus pink, green parakeet, bright buttercup, amethyst allure, blueberry sky
nuvo drops, liquid pearls
Forgot about my butterflies!  They are form Butterfly Dreams

Thanks so much for stopping by...hope you all have a fabulous day!!

Masterpiece Inspirtion with the Team

You can go HERE to see all the inspiration from the team on their Masterpiece Inspirations!
I chose the same inspiration as Kay Miller...love the Georgia O'Keefe POPPY and I pretty much copied Kay's piece of art work.
I used the leaf veins from Leave it Be...I also used the Ganzai Tambi paints.
My friend and I are not even half way through the day, good thing they give us three days to complete all these videos!!

Spectacular Embossing

I embossed my card  with the new We R Memory Makers EF...those are fabulous!
First I taped off my square,(I meant for it to be more askew than it turned out), then I sponged on my distress inks and blended and blended, then I stamped my:  just a note.
I pulled off the masking tape and ran it through the Big Shot.
I then die cut a PTI "swoosh" word and adhered it with multi medium.

I am entering this card in AAA cards

SAF ~ Threads with Laura Bassen

Laura Bassen is going to be missed as a PTI designer.
I love her creativity and her innovative ideas!
I used my friends' stamp set:  Sketched Shapes and did an hombre stamping with
Sweet blush, hibiscus burst, raspberry fizz, and pure poppy.
I loved the way she layered her threads on the paper... so much better than what I have been doing with it!!  The  sentiment is from Wonderful Words:  Hello.

OMG we lost power for at least two hours and we started three hours late to begin with, so that really put a major kink in our creating today!
Today was Linda's Father's 95th birthday and even though we celebrated last night with the family, we stopped over and brought him dinner, then we went to church.
We plan to drive down to my house tomorrow, so we have a three hour drive ahead of us.

We are trying to do a few more videos and cards before we call it a night!
Thanks for stopping by!

MIM # 219 Texture Kissing

is up and Lizzie has the video showing texture on your stamped image by using the kissing technique.

I used "Bloomers" and "Embellishments" for the "kiss"!
the leaves are from Vintage Linen and you can barely tell, but I used Polka Dot Basics kissed to the leaves, the bottom leaf at least shows a few dots!
I wanted to add that I used the "doodling" technique to frame my images!
Thanks for taking a look!
Have a good week!

stamps:  Verve: Abundant Blessings
Die:  PTI Swoosh
paper: PTI white, red, hawiian shores and smokey gray

MIM # 208 Ombre Stamping

I enjoyed sponging the stamps and getting the ombre look with all these different inks.
You can find this challenge and technique at Capture the Moment . Laurie Willison has a video up on Nichole's blog with this tehcnique.  I like sponging on the stamp versus trying to use the ink pad, I almost always get the ink pad lines across my image!
stamps:  Funky Florals, Bitty Bouquet
Inks:  tropical teal, Haw.shores, aqua mist;  terra cotta tile, orange zest, melon berry,  royal velvet, plum pudding, lavendar moon;  scarlet jewel, pure poppy, autumn rose, summer sunrise, harvest gold, lemon tart

Dye Ink Direct to Paper!

These are both the same technique which is swiping the dye ink directly onto paper.  This first one has the HUGS cut out and layered it over the inked background.  I die cut the hearts out of the same paper...added some heart & small plain sequins.  This is PTI Big Hugs die and stamp set.

The "Hello" is a WPlus9 die and the stars are a PTI border die...the little stars attached to the face of the card are from the inside of the star border.

Fun and bright cards to send to friends!  Have a great weekend friends!

Make it Monday

Laura Basson has a video over at
Use your die cuts as a template for sponging on a background color.  I happen to have a clear sheet of the mosaic from the SAF this last August and it was sitting right on my desk!
So I put it to good use!
I used aqua mist, Hawaiian shores and tropical teal and sponged it all over after I used versamark and clear embossing powder on the mosaic.
Thanks for the terrific video Laura!
Wet paint III is the die cut and sentiment!

MIM ~ Rainbow Medallions

Capture the Moment with a new Make it Monday video is up friends.  Dawn is showing a rainbow medallion, using stamps from your stash.  Go check it out!  I looked at a couple and decided on one from Embellishments.  I inked up the same colors that Dawn did...now my BFF will get a kick out of this, because I used a ruler and pencil to draw my lines to make a "T" so I would be sure to follow it straight and not get all wonky!  I decided to die cut the center circle out and then place a new white piece in the center (an inlay!), then I took a strip of paper and placed a narrow strip of the same colors in the rainbow and adhered them all at an angle on the piece of computer paper.  Then I die cut the word "hello" from Wet Paint and voila...all done!  I kind of like this...different but fun and cheery!

Go out and make it a great day!
Heart Hugs,
Colleen

SPECIAL CARD FOR A SPECIAL LADY

I bet you all know DARNELL,  right?
She now has 500 followers!!  WOW, I can see why, she is so talented and so gifted with the pen..
OH!  I mean the keyboard.
Seriously that girl can put a giggle in you any time of the day, go check her out
and if you are not already a follower, then join her blog...you will NOT be disappointed!
She has a few rules to follow and the most important one is it has to be NBUS!!
She made up that acronym!!

It stands for: never-before-used-schtuff!!
So Yes, my sweet little Lawn Fawn set Year Four has been sitting in my basket for months, so it qualifies for this challenge!
I pulled out a few other stamp sets too, PTI:  Little Bitty Birdie for the sentiment; Garden Variety for the grass, Paper Smooches for the pole the bird is sitting on; Back Pocket Basics for the sun, and Up, Up and Away for the cloud!
Six stamp sets to make this one little bitty card for Darnell!
I colored with copics.
CONGRATULATIONS, Darnell,
I have a feeling you will be hosting another challenge in the very near future!!

MIM # 149 LOTS of glitter!!

Over at Capture the Moment  Heather has a video showing how she used different glitters on a single die cut....it is the new Make it Monday video.
I used Wonderful words: Hello die and ran it through the xyron on both sides...using a craft knife I selectively cut through the top layer and peeled off the top layer to add the first glitter, unfortunately the colors of the glitter are not showing up very good in the picture, but they are aqua marine, white gold, and rose...these are martha Stewart glitters.
I used the Limited Layers:  Hearts dies using the solid heart image and the scalloped heart.  I backed the solid piece with
some acetate on the back side.
The sentiment is from With all my Heart.
The sun is peeking out from the fog, so I think Lin and I are going to go shopping for some crafting goodies and have lunch out!!

Have a terrific week friends,
Heart Hugs,
Colleen

Make It Monday with Papertrey Ink # 131

That Betsy is CRAZY AWESOME!!  She comes up with the BEST ideas EVER!!  This time she shows us how to do some Striped Embossing.  Now, I have to admit I didn't think it would work...I know, I watched her do it, but that doesn't mean it will work for me!  ha...they always make it look easy and it usually isn't!  But this one was okay!  I thought for sure after putting the post it notes over the versamark that the embossing powder wouldn't stick so good to it, but IT DID!  Of course I pulled out a wide sentiment...just to make it a little easier for me!!  I loved how she used the Autumn Pattern Pieces, so I used the same set on the lower part of my card.  Now if my BFF were here with me, she would NOT be surprised to see me get out my ruler and measure the equal distance...and I didn't do to bad, but I could have had more of the pink showing, which actually I thought I had all planned out, but it didn't turn out that way, even with pencil marks, paper placed on a grid background etc...I know, some people can just eyeball it and it works, me...I am always a little crooked or "off"...so the ruler is always beside me!  My BFF...she doesn't know how to use a ruler!  LOL...but she does just fine without it!!

Stamps:   Wonderful Words:  Hello, Autumn Pattern Pieces, Framed Out # 11
Zing embossing powder:  blush, aqua, leaf
paper:  stampers select white, Hawaiian shores
