PTI June Blog Hop

I just have to say that I had every intention of posting this for the Blog Hop, but being on vacation and having a house full of family, it totally slipped my mind.  I just remembered tonight, so thought I would post it now anyway, since it was all done!

Also, my granddaughter Ellie will be playing tomorrow for the CHAMPIONSHIP  in the 14 and under Volleyball Tournament in Phoenix AZ.  There are 140 teams in her age division, so to be first or second is a great accomplishment!

 I can't believe the JUNE BLOG HOP is upon us!

I used the striped vellum pattern paper and embossed my flowers using some zing ep.

Here is the inspiration piece!  I placed my vellum over smokey shadow card stock, added my sentiment on a rustic white tag to get the cream color.  Those are such cute little shoes, I can just imagine a sweet little thing wearing these shoes and dancing and twirling around!

I thought these colors were nice for a sympathy card and a friend requested one.

Seize the Birthday ~ Anything goes

I need a card for my DAD who will be turning 92 in a couple of weeks, and I mentioned in another post that he used to raise Chrysanthemums...so of course I had to use PTI's Mum's the Word for his card.  Now, even though it is flowers, I think I managed to make it somewhat masculine...at least I think he will really like it.  If you want to play along go HERE and you can make a card for Anything goes...your choice, or the "toppings" this week is choosing a predominant color of your choice.  I just went with anything goes because I wanted an assortment of the colors of mum's!!

 I really liked this sketch from the Muse Challenge a couple of weeks ago and didn't get a chance to play along at the time, so I decided to use it now. 

The "Insider" of the card...yes he will be 92!  I will have to make a German chocolate cake as that is his favorite and my Mom always made one for him on his birthday!

Mum's the Word

What a fun stamp set from Papertrey Ink...my Dad used to grow Chrysanthemums when we lived in Seattle...he had a green house and was in a club and even won the big award with his picture in the paper for having the biggest bloom and it was HUGE and it was gorgeous!  I knew I had to have this set if for no other reason than because it brings back those memories.  And my mom started entering the flowers he grew into centerpieces...our house always had beautiful arrangements.  Sadly I did not get that talent from her...I am lucky if my bouquet looks balanced!

First up are the three cards I made for my Aunts all still in Seattle...94, 91 and almost 90.  I will surely be thinking of a special card using this set for my dad who turns 92 in October!

This is a technique Nichole made on her blog during the Countdown release.  It is stamped and then reinkers and a watercolor brush were used...kind of artsy...which I am not!  But I like the looks of the card.

This last card took a while to make as I made the stripes myself using the colors I used for the mums...I stamped with the Super stripes set.  PTI Friendship jar was used and a vellum piece over the top of it.

I did not make all three today, but I did make the last one...we are having beautiful 80+ degrees here in the Portland, Oregon area...we are relishing these golden days and warm days...soon it will be dreary and raining!  But you know, without the rain, we would not have all this beautiful greenery surrounding us!  We are blessed!

Color Throwdown # 257

Well, I made two cards because I wasn't sure if I liked the first one, and now I am not sure I really like the second one either.  My father raised "mums" which is what this set is called"  Mum's the Word from PTI.  I really don't think mums are pink, or at least not a hot pink, but in the world of card making, I think anything goes, right?  But the colors did bother me a bit...so I tried making a second card:

So this one has the colors of mum that is more true, (except maybe that little one that has a bit of pink...do you see it over on the side?  Oh well, the challenge was to use these colors:
