CAS MIX UP CARD CHALLENGE ~ JANUARY

Welcome friends!  I am entering a card in the CAS MIX  UP JANUARY CARD CHALLENGE
I have had this little stamp for a while, it came with an order I made before Christmas.  When I saw the prompt for the CAS Mix Up was splatters, I thought this was the stamp to use.  I have my splatters a bit more controlled as this is an MFT stamp called Distress Patterns, but it still fits the bill, don't you think?
After taking the picture and posting it, I realized my blue on the paint brush and the splatters don't match, I have since rectified that, but I guess I am being lazy today and don't want to take a new picture!  Sorry about that friends, but it does look better with the two blues matching now!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you will go check out all the splatters over at CAS MIX UP and join them this month.  The challenge is open until the 24th of January.

CAS MIX UP CARD CHALLENGE February

I decided I really want to make more of an effort to play in all the CAS Challenges, so I am starting off with February and CAS Mix Up Card Challenge.
This is a NBUS die although to be honest I have had it for awhile!  It reminds me of the dandelion wishers we would pick and blow the seeds all over the lawn!!  I bet my parents loved us for doing that!
And it is a PoppyStamps die called "Dandelion Stems"!!
I cut it out using some Avery Re positional paper and adhered it carefully to my cardstock, then I ink blended with brushes using DOX inks.
I added Birthday wishes which is a die from CASual Fridays and then I stamped and white embossed "for you" (a Sweet n Sassy stamp set was sitting on my desk called All Wrapped Up and it had the perfect "for you" that I needed!
1. made a stencil from a die cut
2. stamped
3.embossed
4. ink blended
Okay one down a few more to go...I really want to give the CAS stencil a try too!
Hope you all have a great week.
I am getting called in to the TV room to watch something with DH!

CAS Mix-Up Card Challenge ~ April ~ Rubberbands

After watching Loll's video, I couldn't stop making these rubberband backgrounds!
This time I used a colored cardstock (PTI spring moss) and stamped my rubberbands using the same ink color.  It makes a fun background!  And I had requests for more "Praying for you" cards, and it has to say "our prayers" instead of "my" which makes it a little trickier!  I had to selectively stamp a sentiment that had prayers at the end, but I used a different stamp for the "you are in our", so it all worked!  Good thing I have my stamps in Evernote so that I could find those words!

CAS Mix Up Card Challenge ~ January

I have another card for the CAS Mix Up Card Challenge for January.
I used cling film and a faux pearl technique to get the cool background.
I dropped some Adirondack acrylic "pearl" paint onto my Ranger mat and dabbed it with a scrunched up bit of cling wrap and dabbed it over my white cardstock.  When it was dry,(and it only took a few minutes) I sponged over it with some DOX ink.  It looks like a blizzard with the swirling snow! he he

I used cling wrap, stamped my sentiment and die cut my sloping hillside (poppystamp).
You have until the 24th to enter this challenge!
Go check out all the inspiration for this fun technique and play along!

CAS Mix Up January Challenge

The January Challenge over at CAS Mix-Up is Cling-Wrap, stamping and your choice!
I had fun with this, but was a bit messy, I forgot to put on gloves!!
I used cling wrap to get the texture on the blue background after spritzing my brushos, I die cut the flower, and the round "Window Works", I then stamped and embossed the sentiment.
You really need to head over to the challenge and see all the awesome projects from the design team!

CAS Mix Up October challenge third try with Ghosting!

I think this is my favorite of the ghosting techniques.
I chose a darker pink card stock and placed the same snowflake stencil (echo park # 2 snowflake) on the paper.
Using a pouncing motion, I added white pigment ink to the paper...then I lifted off the stencil and dried it with a heating tool.
I laid the stencil back on the paper, but moved it slightly down and to the right, then I used the same color ink as the color of the paper and pounced the color onto the paper.
When I removed the stencil it gave the coolest effect.
Go HERE to check out this challenge...it lasts for the whole month...so you have until the 24th to enter...Loll has great videos to watch and they are listed on this site!

CAS Mix Up October Challenge my second card

I tried it again friends!  This time I used a more intricate stencil...an Echo Park Snowflakes # 2 stencil...and I thought I would try softer colors to sponge on the mixed media paper.
I used distress inks:  tattered rose and shaded lilac...couldn't resist adding some pearl drops from my Viva Paper pen and a PTI Fab Flakes die cut on vellum and white embossed.
I have one more idea and I think I will use this same stencil, but a different technique...so stay tuned!  Will see if the next one is a better ghosting technique for me!

CAS Mix Up October Challenge

Loll makes this look really easy over at the CAS Mix Up Challenge...actually every video tutorial Loll does looks easy and amazing...I struggle.  Can you even see the shapes in the background stencil I used?
I first applied distress inks to a Mixed media paper, then laid my stencil (MFT Funky Florals) on top, spritzed with water and removed.  Waited 15 seconds and laid a piece of paper towel on top to absorb the extra moisture.  I do love the colors, they are so bright and bold...does it make a difference if the background is soft or bright?
I then die cut a SSS Fresh Daisies in white and placed it on top of the card.
I do like this a lot, but think I will try a few more..
Thanks for stopping by friends, I know I have been missing in action.

A cousin of my husband who is from Norway was here for 3 weeks, my home was her base!  I first met her 50 years ago when we were both juniors in high school (this is aging me!! *wink!)  We became good friends, even before I was dating my husband...you know how it is with high school boys, they don't like to hang with family much...so I did family activities with her family minus my husband and they became my family, couldn't have asked for better or nicer in-laws!
Now I am back to the studio...
