Inpsired by ...Easter is Coming!

Inspired by...Easter is Coming has a couple more days to play along.
This is new to me, I found it from visiting a friends blog.
There is a picture for inspiration, but also a sketch, do you use both?
I just used bunnies and eggs, but not three of them...well, more than three eggs, but not in a row.
so if this doesn't work for the challenge, that is okay, I still have 2 Easter cards to mail out!
First up is a bright rainbow background with the MFT bunny, basket and eggs (even glossed over with glossy accents!
The second card still has a rainbow background, but definitely a fading rainbow!  *wink

How are you inspired?
Theme?  Bunny?  Colors?  Eggs?  Containers?

Thanks for stopping by friends!

MIM Color Wheel

This week Lexi over at the Papertrey Blog has a video showing how she makes a card using a color wheel for inspiration.
I thought this might work good for Easter eggs so I pulled out Egg Hunt and stamped my eggs with  pastel colors, my sentiment is from Spring Woods.

CAS Mix-Up March Challenge

I did some smooshing with Inka Gold (gold) and some reinkers.
I backed my smooshed mat with gold PTI paper and also embossed my sentiment with gold EP.  The Lily was colored with copics.
I am entering this card over at CAS Mix-Up March Challenge
STAMPING +SMOOSHING + DIE CUT

stamps:  PPP: Easter Blessings
dies:  PTI Noted Scalloped A2 Collection

While I had everything out I made a few more cards using the smooshing technique.

I changed things up with this potted lily by using some background paper that I notched and added some twine to ground my flower!
I have a few more Easter cards to post, then I think I have enough!
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!

CAS Mix Up March challenge Card 2

I have another card for the CAS Mix Up March Challenge!
I have been making Easter cards and I had some cross die cuts left on my desk so I thought I would smoosh one more time for my background.  I was thinking of a sunrise when I smooshed the wild honey and fossilized amber distress inks.

STAMPS + SMOOSHING + DIE CUTS
dies:  verve crosses, MFT stitched scallop frame
stamp: PTI Easter Alleluia

I pulled out the Lil' Inkers Stitched bunnies and kept this card really simple.
The sentiment is from PTI Spring Birds.

Lin and I have been at it since early this morning while we were still in our jammies!
Of course we took a break for breakfast and lunch...I am the chief cook and she is the chief bottle washer!!  Hey, it works for me...if she isn't here I am both!! Yeah DH is poiled and has it pretty easy!

Playing with my Friend

First I wanted to share with you all a picture of Greta, Linda and me meeting for the first time.  We had a delightful time and Greta is just the sweetest thing.
We could have been friends forever, that is how easy she was to talk to and of course it helps having something like this hobby in common!
I hope we can get together again!
She is only a little over an hour drive away from me.

When we got home, Linda and I started getting creative.  I knew I needed some sympathy cards because a lady from our church just passed away with ALS and lots of cards will be needed by my bible study ladies.
I pulled out Tulip time since I haven't used it yet and made a couple of cards and also an Easter Card:
I used PTI lemon tart, bright buttercup for the flowers
My leaves were stamped with spring moss, then I sponged on pinefeather, but then used the second layer for the leaves and stem and stamped them directly with pinefeather.
I also used the tip top die and the bright buttercup paper.
The sentiment is from PTI Spring Woods.
I pulled out some WPlus9 inks this time!
Wild Mango, Miami Spice and Sweet Nectar
I love how these colors layered up on the flower.
I used the same colors for the leaves (all done with the Misti...sure made it easy!)
The sentiment is from PTI Botanical Silhouettes.
And I also used the outer part of the new PTI Cover Plate Frame Die.
My last card made for Easter was made with HA Soft Lilac, SSS lavender and SSS Hydrangea...so pretty and thought for sure this looked like a beautiful Easter card...I used a sentiment form the Spring Birds.
the top layer was cut from an MFT wonky stitched rectangle.

Since this is a NBUS stamp I will enter this over at Darnell's blog!
Never-Before-Used-Schtuff (Stamps, Dies, EFs, etc.)

Happy Stamping and heart Hugs!!

NBUS CHALLENGE # 6

You all know the delightful DARNELL, right?
Well, that gal can spin a story like no one else...can you believe she has a family of "hammies' living in her Playhouse...it is totally true and they give her great advice (most of the time!).  She is not only a master story teller but a terrific card maker, friend and wonderful human being!  So now she is hosting her 6th NBUS Challenge to try to encourage all of us to use our Never- Before- Used- Schtuff!!
This is a new set from PTI, Spring Birds...I do love me some birds! I have the Winter Birds and LOVE the cardinal...now I couldn't resist a sweet little robin sitting on a flowering cherry tree.  And since Spring is in the Air, it can totally be an Easter card too!!
To play along you can go HERE to Darnell's blog and join in the fun!
Expect to stay awhile and enjoy the camaraderie while she takes you through her cards and her stories...
Never-Before-Used-Schtuff (Stamps, Dies, EFs, etc.)
Have a wonderful weekend friends!
I have my BBF, Linda  coming down this Sunday to stay a week and play with me!
And we are excited to meet a fellow blogger, Greta on Tuesday down in the Woodburn area by the Outlet Malls.  Nothing could be more fun than actually coming face to face with all you wonderfully creative ladies we meet in blogland!

MIM 241 Ombre Stencil Backgrounds

Betsy has a video for the new Make It Monday, she is using a stencil with an ombre background...go check it out!
I need some Easter cards and thought this would be a good one to start with...
Stamps & Dies:  PTI Flower Favorites, Tulip time
stencil:  MFT Wonky Chevron
Background Inks:  PTI new leaf, simply chartreuse, spring moss, harvest gold
Flower & butterfly inks:  simply chartreuse, winter wisteria, plum pudding, orange zest, pure poppy, summer sunrise

We just returned home from a three day volleyball tournament in Denver.
Ellie's coach arranged for a tour of University of Colorado in Boulder.
That is a beautiful city and awesome campus!  I told Ellie I wouldn't mind visiting her in that town!
Ellies' team took third and won a bid for the National Tournament in Indianapolis this summer!  This is the first time a team from our NW region has won a bid in a national tournament...we are so proud of that team.
I have a couple pictures to share, but right after the game, most of the team had to literally run out of the convention center and jump in a waiting taxi to get to the airport so they wouldn't miss their plane.  Fortunately, we had a later flight scheduled, so we didn't have to run!

 Ellie and Proud Mama
Assistant Coach (My husband!) and four girls who had later flights.
So proud of this team and happy they got the bid to go to Nationals!

Freshly Made Sketches # 129

Over at Freshly Made Sketches I decided to make another Easter card...actually as I am skyping with my friend Linda  over at her blog we decided to use this sketch and both use PTI Polka Dot Parade #1 the bunny and see how different or the same they would turn out...truthfully I like hers better *wink...I struggle with pattern paper...I think I laid down and cut out about three different kinds until I finally settled on this...what does that tell you?  We did both use the exact same sentiment though!!
So this is two down and two more to go for Easter cards...I always send my aunts cards every month to let them know that I am thinking of them and praying for them...they are all in their 90's.

Okay, maybe my friend and I will do another challenge and I can get another Easter card made!

It is a stormy day here...lots of wind and lots of rain!

Colleen

CASual Friday ~ A good Egg!

CAS-ual Fridays challenge this week is all about OVALS.

Products used:

PTI paper:  white, soft stone plain and pattern
MFT Stamps:  Easter Bunny, PTI Egg Hunt (sentiment)
inks:  PTI kraft, aqua mist, sweet blush, berry sorbet, summer sunrise, simply chartreuse, winter wisteria, spring rain, HA Latte chalk ink
dies:  MFT Easter bunny, Lil' Inkers Stitched Ovals

I stamped the eggs on the side to make my own pattern strip and attached soft stone paper to the sides.  The oval was die cut with stitched mat and I used dimensional tape to adhere the basket.  The bunny and the eggs were attached using DOTS  from Deanna's blog, she has them on sale, only until the end of Saturday...so jump on it and buy some you will not be disappointed...they add just a bit of dimension, maybe half of the scotch dimensional roll.  Go to her blog and check it out...Kloset Kreations.

Okay, time to go sit and maybe knit while I watch a show with DH...have a good one friends!

Heart Hugs,
Colleen

One more Easter card...

The little "tulip" flower is from the "Wishing You" stamp set, that was one of the free 13 stamp sets that I won from Melissa Bickford who designs for Papertrey, Ink.  I stamped the background with the big Polka Dot Basics II, I had a bit of October Afternoon Paper left over, so I cut a strip of that as it too had tulips and fun colors on it. I added some stitching around it and a little tag that says "Easter blessings".

One more Easter card...

I used the Egg Hunt stamp set again...Aqua Mist paper cut with the scallop die, I then stamped the left edge with Background Basics Tin Types with versamark ink, the strip of kraft is stamped with the flower strip from Egg Hunt.  the butterflies were stamped with versamark ink and then embossed with white embossing powder...then I went over each butterfly with more of the aqua mist ink to highlight it a bit more.

Easter Cards and Spring Cards

The Egg Hunt stamp set is really a great one...fun stamps to color the eggs...a darling butterfly that I cut out by hand...a couple of different background papers for the first two pictures.

this card I used the Friendship Jar and die cut, then I added the eggs from the Spring collection and the cute little chick that hatched out of the egg.  The background stamp is also from Egg Hunt.

A Round Scalloped Card!

I saw a round card posted by Debbie Olson on the PTI blog...I was intrigued by it, so I pulled out my scallop circle nestabilities and used the largest one...you must pay attention to where the scallops sit on the bottom (ask me how I know this!)...the second one turned out great...able to sit on its own without the whole card being tilted!!  I edged the rustic cream with a little bit of sweet blush ink...used that adorable bird from Little Bitty Birds and the easter eggs ....again!  from the Friendship Jar Spring Fillers...I ruffled up the pink ribbon using some score tape, then I stitched it...added a couple of buttons and a sentiment inside from Egg Hunt...that's it...pretty cute I think!
