More Coloring Challenge on the road with Kathy R

Okay, let's start with this one friends...this was stamped with a very light ink so it could be a no line coloring.  My first blooper was coloring before my eyes were dry (not MY eyes, the eyes on the bear! *wink)  You see, I could barely see them, so I used my copic multiliner 03 and colored them in...but then when I actually started adding my colors to the bear, the black smeared giving him more of a "panda" look with a black eye!  I tried to cover it up, but you know this is my practice one right?
I used E50 and E35, then a little bit of W4 for some shading.  I tried to add a bit of color with colored pencils, and I did go around the bear and made little stick out lines...kind of looks like his hair is standing on end, I wonder if I scared him! LOL
then I tried again, this time with the bear stamped in black ink:
Oh, one thing Kathy did on her critter was add a bit of colorless blender onto a small square of a washcloth, something that has the fibers sticking up.  And what you do is hold it down for 3 second and lift straight up, it does help give it a more mottled and blended look.  My problem was maybe I had too much blender because it really made it bleed outside the lines,  you can see a bit still, but really I had to go all around that bear and try to draw ink back in.
So, I thought I better have his hair stand on end too and maybe that would help with all that bleeding..
Not sure it really helps, and maybe my lines are a tad too long, so back to the drawing board and practice practice practice!
I did enjoy the coloring and the process though!
I don't think I will make a card with these bears, they are a tad too messy!

I am getting my coloring in every day though...probably more than 10 minutes, just cause I am slow!

Heart Hugs, friends!

I love what you've posted on your three days with the road trip, Col! They are so good!! I bought the class, too, but haven't had a chance to take it yet so I'm loving all the inspiration from you and Lin! Plus I love that you are inadvertently advertising one of the Twofer prizes this month which might encourage folks to play for a chance to win it!! Mwah! Hugs, Darnell

You did a great job of adding those little hairs, Col! I'm scared when I think of doing that! The first little bear looks so cuddly. The little hair lines worked great on the second bear and it looks like the bleed was intentional. I think both of these little guys would make adorable cards!

Such sweet teddy bears! Looks like you're learning a lot in that course. Thanks for passing on the tip about adding texture with the colourless blender on a washcloth - will try that when colouring animals.

Loved reading this post and all your trials along the way. We used the colorless blender at MFT when I took her class and have only used it once since then. The bear looks fabulous with all his texture though, the first one minus his bulging eye( LOL) looks FAB! Glad you shared. Try again I want to see this cutie on a card!

Colleen, You did a great job yet again. I am wondering if your paper is 110? and what ink? Either way you can heat set the ink before coloring. You did a great job fixing the bleeding. Both are great!

Thanks for taking us on your journey. I think you did an amazing job. Love the texture you’ve achieved. I learned the hard way, too, assuming the Copic multiliner would not smear.
