Hi friends!
Today we have a new SEIZE THE BIRTHDAY CHALLENGE.
Our hostess, Cathy is looking for METALLIC on our birthday card and she says: "There are lots of ways to add a metallic feel to cards. Foiling, Foiled
or metallic coloured cardstock, metallic mica sprays, gilding flakes,
metallic embossing powders, metallic sheets or embellishments!"
I had this background piece in my stash from a couple of years ago at a retreat in Indianapolis. Brenda in In shared this fun technique and I made several background pieces. I pulled this one out to use on my birthday card. The photo doesn't do it justice though, it really does have a shine to it!
Of course I had to write Brenda and ask her how we did it because I couldn't remember! LOL
This is one of her embossing folders, reminds me of a pebble path!

According to Brenda we inked up the debossed side of the folder with a soft color ink and ran it through our die cut machine. Then we sponged the image with some blue, green and even brown ink randomly over the paper. Then we swiped the versamark pad over the raised edges, just randomly here and there. For this paper I added gold embossing powder, but I have another paper where I used both gold and silver ep. They are really pretty IRL! Another one I made I sponged on an aqua color and then used gold ep and it gives it a patina kind of look. Very cool!
The die cut is from Memory Box: Floral Right Corner
