Hi friends! So happy you stopped by!
Our Seize the Birthday Challenge is hosted by our talented Ashwini and she would like us to use an embossing folder for our birthday card! If you don't want to use the topping, you are always welcome to make any kind of birthday card!
I had fun after watching a video by Jennifer McGuire using embossing folders to make faux metallic texture cards! I have quite a few to share with you, I just couldn't stop myself *wink!
The first one I used An Altenew folder called Flowers and Leaves. I ran my card through it first, then I ran it through using mirror cardstock by Tonic. I cut a portion of it and added a small piece of silver metallic paper along one edge. My sentiments and little flowers are from the Greetery: Birthday Blooms.
This folder is also an Altenew: Daisies 3D
I embossed the card and then the red metallic paper and cut it at an angle.
The sentiment is also from The Greetery: Birthday Blooms
And my last card is embossed with Kraft paper and again with mirror cardstock.
When you cut the mirror or metallic cardstock you get to make twice as many cards!
I made one that was an anniversary card too!
So there you have it! I hope you give an embossing folder a try, I am anxious to see how you use the folders on your birthday card!
And please check out our special Party Guest: Melanie Hungerford as well as the design team for more inspiration with using an embossing folder!

Beautiful cards using the foil card stock from Tonic. The colours are AMAZING! Adding just part of the part with foil cs is a great way to get more from your foil. Fantastic cards Col!! xx
Four beauties, Col. I'm not sure I saw this technique with Jennifer. Might have to look it up.
These are beautiful! I love the shine from the mirror cardstock, and what a great idea to emboss the rest of the card as well. Gorgeous!
Looks like we both watched the same video Colleen...I've been having fun with my embossing folders and mirror cardstock too! After seeing all your beautiful cards I'm thinking I must have some red mirror cardstock somewhere, because I just LOVE how yours turned out! Lovely, lovely cards my friend!! Hugs. :0)
These are so beautiful, Colleen. Cutting the foil at an angle made a lovely card and gave you the opportunity to make a second card - I love that.
Beautiful cards Colleen. Love how you embossed the the card as well as the mirror cardstock. Using just a section of the embossed mirror card is a great way to make multiple cards. I like how you cut it at an angle also.
Looks like you had a lot of embossing folder fun, Col! Love the metallic embossing!
I wouldn't know which one to choose - they all look so brilliant! Love that gorgeous shine of the metallic papers, the embossing is highlighted so well with them. Absolutely gorgeous cards!
Well, I have to say that we are all watching Jennifer lately. Your cards are amazing and now I need to watch more videos as these a top notch. I love the ....wait, love them all!
Beautifully done! That daisy looks like it is ON FIRE! Just gorgeous
That metallic card stock really makes an impact, all four cards are stunning! Thanks for inviting me as your guest at Seize the Birthday this month!
Oh my look at you! I had no idea I was going to see four cards! Love each one Colleen! Big, Big Cyber hugs to you and your family!
It looks like you had a blast,Colleen :) ! They look all gorgeous with the metallic papers!
Oh, wow! You’ve been busy, Colleen! These cards are so eyecatching, I must watch that video.
These are all so great! Love the mirror paper (especially the red!) and clever to run the card through first for some extra texture - great effect.
Gorgeous array of cards Colleen, love the embossed metallic look, another video to watch :) Sorry for the late comment, technology issues...looking for a new laptop! Cathy x
