Linda and I watched a video at Jennifer McGuire's Blog
and we looked at each other and thought of doing the same thing, obviously with a different background stamp (it had to be holly and I just happened to have an older wooden Hero Arts stamp called Holly Flourish. Being the Bestie, I let my friend use it first and WOW do I love what she did with it! (Of course, I was slaving away in the kitchen browning up some beef for a taco salad, and then making a Texas Chocolate Sheet cake, and grilling some chicken for our lunch!! All while my friend is just playing away in the studio!!) Ha Ha!! My thought was to maybe use gradient greens, tried it and did NOT like it. So then Linda gave me this idea: stamp the holly flourish with white pigment ink, then with the BACK of a rectangle stamp (just happens to be a PTI: Crackle stamp) I inked up the back with the green and stamped it ...had to do it four times to get a good layering of ink! Doesn't it look cool? and the picture below I took at an angle hoping you could see the white on white...it is very soft and velveteen looking!
My sentiment is a SSS die cut with a little PPP gold heart for an accent!
Go here to Merry Monday to play along.

You and Linda together are an awesome team, Colleen! This is beautiful! Lunch sounds really good too! Thanks for sharing with us at Merry Monday!
This is SO pretty Colleen! I'm still scratching my head on what to do (and what do I have??) for the Merry Monday challenge! And how nice were you to let Linda use the stamp first and provide a yummy lunch and dinner?!! Your card is just beautiful in it's simplicity, and I will definitely have to check out Jennifer's video for this technique! :0)
Oh, so very pretty! It is a perfect take on the challenge! Love the background and the pop of red with the sentiment!
I love how CAS your card is but also how pretty it is too!
This made a beautiful card. I never thought of using the back of the stamp to stamp with. Clever idea! How fun to be stamping together. I love your friendship.
This is gorgeous, Colleen ... love the effect of the green over the white holly leaves ... seems it has such yummy texture ... it's brilliant behind that fab die cut sentiment! Anita :)
That is such an awesome background technique - good job to both of you!
Collen, your card is wonderful! Those die cut words are perfect against the green pattern paper! Thanks so much for playing with us at Merry Monday!
Wow--this came out so neat, Colleen! Thank goodness for your Bestie!
