PTI March Blog Hop

I had to make my own stitched flowers as I do not own any of the PTI stitched stamp sets.
I used the new anniversary set Painted Petals and thought the beautiful flower from this set would be perfect to going around and doing a faux stitch.  I used a gold uniball pen for most of the flowers and leaves, some of the smaller flowers I used a copic multiliner pen and also a little bit of white uniball.

Seize the Birthday ~ Water

Welcome again folks to another Seize the Birthday Challenge where today's topping is "WATER".  I had to think about that...hmmm...my friend asked me if I had fish, or a whale, you know something that lives in the sea! Not really...then I thought, how about a vase filled with flowers and WATER!  YES!  Score for me! (now that I think of it, I do have a lighthouse stamp set...that would have been great too!)
I used watercolor paper and Distress Ink to paint everything on this card.
I cut out the small mason jar and used tumbled glass for my water.
My flowers were done with Abandoned Coral...I love that color! and the leaves with mowed lawn.  Those are PTI Friendship Jar stamps and dies.
My sentiment is from the Stamp of Approval young at Heart Collection by Cas-ual Fridays:  Birthday sentiments.  And the side panel was made using an Impression Obessesion background stamp:  thin strips which I embossed with silver EP and then swiped with my paintbrush and abandoned coral distress ink!
We want to thank Jacquie for being an awesome Special Guest Designer the last couple of months!  And now we want to welcome TWO other fantastic ladies to our design team:
Barbara Campbell and Vicki Dutcher!
go check them out friends...they will inspire!!.

You have until April 5 to play along!

Thanks for stopping, hope you will visit the rest of the team and see how they used "water" on their card!

MIM # 243 Ink Blending over heat Embossing

Danielle has a video up showcasing her Ink Blending over heat Embossing Technique.
Go check it out, she has a beautiful card!
I used the same Text Style II that she used and after heat embossing it, I sponged on some Bright Buttercup Ink.
The flowers are Vintage Linens stamped in Winter Wisteria, then sponged on a darker shade of royal velvet.  The stems and leaves were also a two step process with first stamp of spring moss, then a darker shade of pinefeather sponged onto the stamp. (A technique that  Betsy showed a couple of weeks back!)
I ended with a sentiment for Keep it Simple: Prayer for You
I really like this technique...mostly white space, but it adds a lot of dimension and some texture to the card.  My card is actually the PTI fine linen adhered to a Winter Wisteria base.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!
Have a great day!

Papaer Players # 287 Spring is in the Air!

Good morning friends...let's see, we are now into spring right?
I would have believed it on Saturday, we had almost 68 degrees and full sun!
Today it is 45 and raining!!
I guess that is our spring weather here in the Pacific Northwest!!  *wink
Jaydee provided the inspiration photo.
I pulled out my PTI Birds & Blooms and inked it up, even did a little sponging to get different shades of green on my leaves.

Stamps:  PTI Birds & Blooms, Take Three Spring
inks:  PTI lovely lady, hibiscus burst, raspberry fizz, simply chartreuse, new leaf, pinefeather
PPP sequins and some from PTI shaker kit.
This card was made with PTI Spring Woods.  Nothing says spring more than Robins in our neck of the woods!!
Hope you all have a blessed Easter week, our kids are all on spring break this week, already saw my grandson and made him an egg sandwich for breakfast!!

A Birthday shaker card!

Well, you know I had to have that Fuse tool to make shaker cards, because it looked so easy, then of course I had a little trouble, had to return mine and get a new one and now it has not come out of the box and it has been 6 months!
I was at the Craft Warehouse the other day and found these awesome
impression obsession shaker card pouches and had to buy them.
Boy do they make it easy to use!!
And they are self adhesive...!!  SCORE one for me!!
I love this "Hooray" pattern paper pack from PTI, so I selected the pink ombre one (this is for a three year old girl!) and die cut a circle.
On my card face I traced the circle and then I stamped stars all over it using the same inks I used for the three layer cake (all PTI: lovely lady, hibiscus burst, raspberry fizz and pure poppy).  Then I die cut a number "3" from Hawaiian Shores paper and glued it down.
I added lots of little sequins and sprinkles etc inside that circle.
All I had to do was peel off the adhesive and lay that pouch down and voila!!  Everything is all sealed in and it shakes like a charm!  (except there is some static to it!).
My cake is made with the stamps and dies from the SOA "Young at Heart" collection, this particular stamp is from Sugar Pea Designs and is called "Bring on the Cake".  I love those three little candles (I colored those with copics so I could have the yellow flames!).
The added little sentiment 'for the birthday girl' is from the PTI Make a Wish collection.
I think this turned out darling and I think this particular three year old will love shaking it!

Have a super fabulous week my friends!!
Heart Hugs!
ps, Lin, I remade the whole card!!

Merry Monday ~ Black, white, silver and gray

Sue is our Merry Maker asking us to use white, black, silver and /or gray on our card.

Freshly Made Sketches # 277

Linda C has a new sketch up at Freshly Made Sketches.
I am making another Easter card.
I pulled out the Lil' Inkers Stitched bunnies and kept this card really simple.
The sentiment is from PTI Spring Birds.

Lin and I have been at it since early this morning while we were still in our jammies!
Of course we took a break for breakfast and lunch...I am the chief cook and she is the chief bottle washer!!  Hey, it works for me...if she isn't here I am both!! Yeah DH is poiled and has it pretty easy!
Heart Hugs, friends!

Faux Mother of Pearl Card

I loved this background...Lin did it first and I had to copy, it is so pretty.
After using the pearl dabber, I sponged on Distress ink:  picked raspberry and seedless preserve.  I die cut a stem from SSS:fresh daisy in white and simply adhered it to the beautiful background.  I am in need of sympathy cards, so I added a sentiment from PTI Words of Comfort.  The layers are Lil' Inkers Stitched Rectangles.
A simple card, but I love how it looks..
Heart Hugs friends, we are still going at it!!

Two - Fer & Time Out Challenge

Trying a new technique we saw from Loll and Lin and I LOVED it.
We went to town making many pieces of paper with different colors.
I decided to make a Two-Fer (in Darnell's words).
One is an Easter Card, the other is a St. Patrick's Day card
First up is the Easter Card...the background green was made using the Faux Mother of Pearl technique (by Loll)  I didn't have liquid pearls, but I did have a little dabber of pearl acrylic paint, so we used that and also tried the Viva Pearl Pen (which worked fine but dried rather quickly).  After dabbing on the pearl paint with a wad of cling film, I used distress inks: twisted citron and mowed lawn.  It is hard to capture the real shine of this card.
The eggs were all cut out from other papers that I did (an MFT die from Easter bunny stamp set), just using different distress inks.  The bunny is from Lil' Inkers Stitched Bunnies & Bows and the sentiment is from an old PTI set called Egg Hunt.
The Frame is from MFT:  Stitched cover up (my friend brought that along for me to play with, so glad she did!)
I am entering this in the Time Out Challenge
Easter and/or Spring with the optional technique twist of masking.

NOW FOR THE TWO-FER:
I have a SIL whose birthday is on St. Patrick's day, so I always have to make him a card and add Happy Birthday inside.  I sponged some mowed lawn onto paper then die cut these memory Box shamrocks...notice one is a four leaf shamrock?  He will have Good Luck, now!

Okay, now I am going to see what else I can make with these gorgeous papers.
Heart Hugs friends!

Seize the Birthday ~ The Great Divide!

The Great Divide Birthday card!!
Doesn't look like much of a great divide, does it?  BUT...it is split!!
I hope you will play along and give this challenge a try.  You can always make any ind of Birthday card too!   Go HERE to play along!
stamps & dies:  Sugar Pea Designs:  Bring on the Cake; CASusal Fridays:  Birthday Sentiments
Paper:  PTI Mint julep and fine linen
sequins are PPP and random ones!

Color Throwdown # 383

Color Throwdown has green, yellow and orange..good colors for flowers!!
I pulled out the PTI Anniversary free stamp set Painted Petals, used a little green watercolor for the background and inked up the flowers with yellows and oranges.
I know just the person I will send this too My 92 year old Aunt!!

Thanks for taking a look!

Playing with my Friend

First I wanted to share with you all a picture of Greta, Linda and me meeting for the first time.  We had a delightful time and Greta is just the sweetest thing.
We could have been friends forever, that is how easy she was to talk to and of course it helps having something like this hobby in common!
I hope we can get together again!
She is only a little over an hour drive away from me.

When we got home, Linda and I started getting creative.  I knew I needed some sympathy cards because a lady from our church just passed away with ALS and lots of cards will be needed by my bible study ladies.
I pulled out Tulip time since I haven't used it yet and made a couple of cards and also an Easter Card:
I used PTI lemon tart, bright buttercup for the flowers
My leaves were stamped with spring moss, then I sponged on pinefeather, but then used the second layer for the leaves and stem and stamped them directly with pinefeather.
I also used the tip top die and the bright buttercup paper.
The sentiment is from PTI Spring Woods.
I pulled out some WPlus9 inks this time!
Wild Mango, Miami Spice and Sweet Nectar
I love how these colors layered up on the flower.
I used the same colors for the leaves (all done with the Misti...sure made it easy!)
The sentiment is from PTI Botanical Silhouettes.
And I also used the outer part of the new PTI Cover Plate Frame Die.
My last card made for Easter was made with HA Soft Lilac, SSS lavender and SSS Hydrangea...so pretty and thought for sure this looked like a beautiful Easter card...I used a sentiment form the Spring Birds.
the top layer was cut from an MFT wonky stitched rectangle.

Since this is a NBUS stamp I will enter this over at Darnell's blog!
Never-Before-Used-Schtuff (Stamps, Dies, EFs, etc.)

Happy Stamping and heart Hugs!!

MIM Sponged Stamping

Dawn has a video up for the new Make It Monday.
I used the new Painted Petals Anniversary set and I think that was a hard one to use.
There are so many wonderful layers to it, I kept adding more colors with a sponge.
The colors are definitely softer and not as vibrant.  It may look darker now because I added some sparkle from the new Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen, which is awesome!
I sponged on some spring Moss color around the flower and leaves.  The sentiment is from Spring Birds.
Having a wonderful time with my friend and I want to thank you all for my birthday wishes!  Tomorrow we go meet Greta face to face~ so excited!!

See ya later, Heart Hugs!

Merry Monday # 195 Buttons!

Welcome to another Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge by the fabulous Nina...
who wants us to use buttons on our cards!
Now I admit to having to think about this one and looking on pinterest for some ideas that were different.
I managed to come up with this all on my own...
How about buttons for the snowballs falling from the sky?
or maybe he is being attacked with snowballs?  *wink
I stamped and colored him, then made a mask and fussy cut and put it over the colored image so I could use distress ink to sponge on the background.
Please go check out how the rest of the team was inspired to use buttons!
stamps:  Avery Elle: Be Jolly
distress inks:  tumbled glass, broken china, dusty concord
dies:  PTI button stacks
misc:  Marvy Snow Marker

NBUS CHALLENGE # 6

You all know the delightful DARNELL, right?
Well, that gal can spin a story like no one else...can you believe she has a family of "hammies' living in her Playhouse...it is totally true and they give her great advice (most of the time!).  She is not only a master story teller but a terrific card maker, friend and wonderful human being!  So now she is hosting her 6th NBUS Challenge to try to encourage all of us to use our Never- Before- Used- Schtuff!!
This is a new set from PTI, Spring Birds...I do love me some birds! I have the Winter Birds and LOVE the cardinal...now I couldn't resist a sweet little robin sitting on a flowering cherry tree.  And since Spring is in the Air, it can totally be an Easter card too!!
To play along you can go HERE to Darnell's blog and join in the fun!
Expect to stay awhile and enjoy the camaraderie while she takes you through her cards and her stories...
Never-Before-Used-Schtuff (Stamps, Dies, EFs, etc.)

MIM 241 Ombre Stencil Backgrounds

Betsy has a video for the new Make It Monday, she is using a stencil with an ombre background...go check it out!
I need some Easter cards and thought this would be a good one to start with...
Stamps & Dies:  PTI Flower Favorites, Tulip time
stencil:  MFT Wonky Chevron
Background Inks:  PTI new leaf, simply chartreuse, spring moss, harvest gold
Flower & butterfly inks:  simply chartreuse, winter wisteria, plum pudding, orange zest, pure poppy, summer sunrise

We just returned home from a three day volleyball tournament in Denver.
Ellie's coach arranged for a tour of University of Colorado in Boulder.
That is a beautiful city and awesome campus!  I told Ellie I wouldn't mind visiting her in that town!
Ellies' team took third and won a bid for the National Tournament in Indianapolis this summer!  This is the first time a team from our NW region has won a bid in a national tournament...we are so proud of that team.
I have a couple pictures to share, but right after the game, most of the team had to literally run out of the convention center and jump in a waiting taxi to get to the airport so they wouldn't miss their plane.  Fortunately, we had a later flight scheduled, so we didn't have to run!

 Ellie and Proud Mama
Assistant Coach (My husband!) and four girls who had later flights.
So proud of this team and happy they got the bid to go to Nationals!
