Day 6 ~ another Jennifer card.. .intermediate watercolor class

I had to try it again with different colors...love the purple and red combo!
Can you see I did some "lifting"  to define the petals?
I had a friend request Thank you cards...I figured these were great cards with those sentiments.

I have another card..NOT for this watercolor class though!
I embossed in white the Persian Motifs from Altenew and used Inktense pencils and water to color it in...another Thank you card for the stash!

Day 6 of the Intermediate Watercolor Class

Did you notice I skipped day 3, 4, and 5 and went right to day 6?
I will try to go back this week and revisit those days...some were way over my head and NOT something I could tackle.  I can barely draw a flower stem let alone freehand a whole background of leaves and flowers!!  Trust me it is so TRUE!
But when I saw Jennifer McGuire's interpretation of this class, I gave it a try...practiced front and back on a whole sheet...finally felt comfortable to make a card...
So here it is...
Thanks for stopping by and looking!!

Watercolor Class Day 2 continued!

One more card for the three-color variegated wash!
My banner is the three color variegated wash, I decided to add a wash to my background, but that was using only one color and making it an ombre look.
I do have one more watercolor piece already done, just not made into a card!
I think I need to take a break and come back to it!
Heart Hugs!

Watercolor class ~ Day 2

Three-Color Variegated Wash
Kristina showed us some three color variegated wash on our papers today.
Then I cut it down to a banner and added some white embossed hearts and sentiment.
I also added some Lavender Moon PPP  sequins.
The background paper is one I picked up at Craft Warehouse, it is a Heidi Swapp Marquee Love and it is full of glitter thin paper!  This one is white!  Awesome!
Heart Hugs, friends!

Online Watercolor Class Day 2

Simple Round Brush Flowers!

This was all done freehand with two round brushes, I am in shock that they look as good as they do (IMHO!! *wink).  These are supposed to be "cornflowers" according to Yana, the instructor on this lesson, and I can totally see that!
The sentiment is PTI from Bold Blossoms.
I think this would make the recipient happy!
I am learning a lot and struggling with some, I have a couple more to share for today, one I haven't even tried yet...freehand a rose, AYKM??

Heart Hugs!!

Muse # 150

Jenni has a beautiful card for this week's MUSE Challenge.
That flower from Clearly Besotted is the first flowers I purchased from that company, (Happy Everything). it is my favorite and I absolutely loved Jenni's card and design.
I would have liked to just copy the whole thing!
Since I am taking the Online Watercolor class, I thought I would use some of the techniques on this card.
I embossed the wonky chevron (MFT) and then did a water brush background going from a darker gray to a lighter gray.
I did the drop in technique from Altenew that I learned last week when I watercolored the flower.  I added the same Pearl Pen drops for the center of the flowers as Jenni did.
I think this makes a striking card and perfect for either sympathy or praying for you.

Here is Jenni's card!

Thanks for stopping by!

Tag you're It! # 39

Erin has a cute little camper with clouds, a few trees and a blue sky, take a look here:

so I like the clouds ...I used a CB embossing folder for my coulds
I like the sky...I sponged on some ink for my sky
I see the trees in the background...mine are pretty much front and center!
and the camper is so cute, but replaced with my car...and it is red too!
I think I am finally getting into the whole tag business!!
Thanks for the inspiration!

Online Watercolor class

This was done all freehand!
And...it was done mixing my own colors.
I am using Koi watercolors, I mixed a blue and a green.
The colors you see are not the true blue or true green because they have been mixed to get either blue/green or green/blue!!
I added a bit of silver metallic thread behind the sentiment which is the new Bold Blossoms set from PTI embossed with Zing aqua powder.

Thanks for taking a look!

Online Card Class ~ Intermediate Watercolor

Here is a card for the new Online Card Class ~ Intermediate Watercolor Class!
Hah, knowing Dawn was the instructor, I should have had a clue that the class would be a little intense!
I am not saying it isn't good, because it really is and she gives you LOTS of information!
So I have one more card for day 1 I need to put together when it dries, then we will see what other designers have done tomorrow with this class!
Have a great week!

Merry Monday ~ One Layer Card

Hi friends!  Welcome back to another Merry Monday Challenge.
Debbie's challenge is a one - layer card.
First I made an impression using the MFT  Pinking Edge Squares.
Then I stamped the bow and made a mask for it, then stamped my wreath

and added my red berries.  Simple one layer...LOVE IT! And oh so easy to mail!!

stamps:  PTI Deck the halls
die:  MFT Pinking Edge Squares

MIM # 237 Matchbook Valentines

Did you see the video from Lexi over at the PTI blog?
Lexi shows how to make a matchbook and put your special valentine treat inside!

I decided to make some with York patties!!
I am getting together with some friends the week of Valentines, so I will be making several of these to give them!

I used PTI Tiny Treats:  Valentine for the frog and colored him with copics.

Thanks Lexi for a great idea!
I hope you all will go check out the video and get started on your treats for friends or family!

Altenew Day 5 ~ second card with using a solid image

Same Painted Butterflies but each one was stamped with two different distress inks.
My sentiment is from PTI:  Keep it Simple: Praying for you.  I stamped the sentiment but I didn't like how it covered up so much of the image if I left it as a banner or a rectangle piece.  So I fussy cut around the letters and really like how it looks.
That's it...the class is done...I m sad to see it end, but since I had such good luck with this class, I will certainly be back at Altenew to try other classes...and the price is certainly right!!

Have a good weekend coming up!
Heart Hugs!

Altenew Day 5 ~ watercolor solid images

The Painted Butterflies from Altenew is a three step stamp, but today we just used the solid image...inking it up, stamping it off and then stamping onto watercolor paper.  I used Distress inks and went over it with a waterbrush.  Then I dropped in some other colors for the shading.  After it was dry I stamped the outline of the image.
I love this butterfly. it has so much movement in it!
If you haven't taken this class, I would recommend it, 6 videos by Lydia and she is awesome!  Great videos and she shows at least one other card for each class to stretch your imagination!
Heart Hugs!

Altenew Day 6 ~ Dropped in color

This was a dropped in color technique!  I used my KOI watercolors and then like Lydia, I sprayed some of that yummy Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine.  I even dropped that gold onto my red heart (PTI die).
The sentiment is from Altenew:  Label Love
Sadly this is the last day of this class, now I just need to remember these wonderful techniques and use them more often on my regularly made cards!
Thanks Altenew for the inspiration!  And a BIG Thanks to Lydia who so expertly showed us these techniques through her videos!
Heart Hugs!

Altenew Watercolor Day 2 ~ Smooshed

I was wanting to try this design from day 2, but I didn't have enough leftover pieces to do it.
So I made another one and knew it was going to be a sympathy card, so I chose some soft distress inks to smoosh,  The flower is Altenew Persian Motifs.  The sentiment is a PTI Think Big #3 embossed with HA silver EP and the silver glitter tape is from Paper Source...and of course a few silver sequins from PPP.
I am enjoying this class a lot!
Thanks for stopping by!

Muse # 149

The Muse Challenge this week is by Tracey McNeely!
I love her clean and simple style of card making!!
I decided to pull out an MFT stamp:  Forget Me Not
Even though it is not in blue, I decided to pick up one of the colors Tracey used on the flowers, plus there are three of them!  And I loved her swirly green stem and leaves!
I think I need to make a couple of more cards, I have two aunts in their 90's that I could send these cards..they would love them!

Have a great day!

Altenew Water color class Day 4 No line coloring!

Okay, I am all caught up, now I can go back and practice a few more techniques ~ like this one!  and blending colors together, I think I could use a lot more practice with that!
This is another Persian Motifs and I decided to cut off both the side and the bottom and add it to a soft stone card. I know most of these cards are thinking of you or praying for you, those are the most requested ones (along with sympathy!) so I am compelled to make them!
Have a great rest of the week!

Altenew Watercolor Clss Day 3 Coloring embossed image

Day three was about embossing an image and then coloring it in and blending a couple of colors.  I chose the Altenew: Magnolias for Her stamp.
I used distress ink after embossing with white.
A few PTI raindrops added!
Heart Hugs!

Altenew Water color class Day 2 Smooshing

I think we are all familiar with the "smooshing" technique.
After it was dry I cut a 1 inch strip and adhered it to the side of my card, added a strip of gold glitter tape too.  The flower is Altenew Persian Motifs.
having fun... I have a couple more to post....I watercolored my paper last night and let it dry, then put the cars together this morning!

Heart Hugs!

Altenew Water color Class Day 1 ~ second card

My background wash in blue this time.
I used some Altenew flowers:  Hennah Elements, embossed with white and cut out.
Added a sentiment form SSS:Handwritten notes.
Stay tuned for more!

Altenew Watercolor Class Day 1

Day 1 of the Altenew Water color class.
The background is an ombre wash using Koi water colors, the PTI Life is Beautiful butterfly was embossed with white on vellum.
A few PPP sequins.

I am playing catch up as I was gone all weekend to my granddaughters Volleyball tournament.
Have a great week...a short one too!!

Merry Monday ~ Favorite Winter Drink

I don't drink coffee...I know, amazing, huh?
However do I love hot chocolate and yummm my favorite...Starbucks
peppermint hot chocolate!
So when Deanne came up with this picture for our Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge and said for us to make a card using our favorite drink as inspiration, I had to make mine a hot chocolate with the peppermint candy canes!

Go check out what the team has made to inspire you!
We look forward to seeing what you make!
Doesn't it feel good to get a jump start on the Christmas cards?

stamps:  MFT:  Toasty Greetings, Lawn Fawn:  Sweet Christmas

Muse # 148

The Muse this week is by Anita...I liked the clean and simple design she had, although truth be told, I had trouble looking for something that resembled what she had.
I found this small scroll with tiny leaves in a sentiment set from PTI called Choose Joy, I had to stamp it three times across the page. Then I looked for a small flower that would work and I found one in Lawn Fawn's Penelope's Blossoms.
The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted:  Thinking of You.

Have a good week!
Heart Hugs!

Merry Monday ~ Plaids

It is my turn this week and I chose to have "PLAIDS" on our Christmas cards at

I used my PTI Holiday Plaid  Paper Pad!  I love all the paper in this pad!
I kept it pretty simple with a stamp from Verve...but I cut a snowflake and a circle in place of the "O" for the JOY.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you will visit the other team members and make a card, it really is so nice to just pull them out and address the envelope at Christmas time!
So join in the fun and make a card with some plaid on it, don't you love the photo inspiration too?
stamps & dies:  Verve: Joy, Li'l Inkers stitched rectangl
paper: PTI Holiday Plaid Paper Pad

Muse # 147

I love the Muse inspiration by Michelle.
I love the black and white and the oval, which for some reason I seldom use!
I was thinking about another sympathy card, because I get the most requests for those,
but I decided a sweet 'thinking of you' would work on the outside, then if it needs to be a sympathy that can go inside, or if it needs to be a praying for you, this will still work.

stamps & dies:  PTI: Winter Woods & Words of Comfort; Li'l Inkers stitched ovals; WPlus9 Holiday Boughs
paper:  MFT Dots & Stripes Neutrals paper Pad

CAS(E) this Sketch #154

Playing along with CAS(E) this Sketch this week
I used Altenew Painted Butterflies and a sentiment
from SSS:  Handwritten borders

Thanks for stopping by!!

Tag You're It # 38

Tracey has a cute inspiration photo over at the TAG YOU'RE IT! CHALLENGE.
Instead of a cute elephant, I went with another big and gray animal...the hippo from Lawn Fawn.  I am excited to make more birthday tags because when my grandchildren come over for a card, I know it will just be thrown away; a tag, not so much work involved, yet cute and unique.  I sponged on color instead of using watercolor paints.

Have a great weekend friends...I have volleyball tournaments with my granddaughters both days this weekend.  Fortunately they are fairly close to home!

MIM # 236 A La Carte

If you didn't get a chance to play along with every single MIM this year, now is your chance to try a technique.  Go HERE to check out all the MIM's for the year.
I chose Dawn's stamping with neutrals
DSC_6316.1
I needed some sympathy cards, and neutral's are just the thing for sympathy!
I pulled out Winter Woods and that cute little chickadee!  "She" was stamped with soft stone and memento black.  The branches were stamped with kraft and stormy sea.
My sentiment is from Boutique Borders:  Sympathy!

Thanks for taking a look, have a great week!
Heart Hugs.

CASology #179 ~ Simple

I am playing along with CASology: Cue word Simple
I needed a thank you card for my three granddaughters to send off to a cousin....
They have four dogs (hoping to adopt another one!) and three cats!
I love this little pooch...my BFF Linda bought this Avery Elle Stamp set for me for Christmas.
She has been with me plenty when I keep admiring it, picking it up and putting it back!!
So thanks friend for giving this to me!  I love it!
