Merry Monday Dots and Stripes

Polka Dot and/or stripes for Merry Monday
I decided to go with lots of dots!

I used the SSS Snowfall stencil with embossing paste to start out with lots of snowballs in the sky.
The trees have white dots and I was debating about a striped paper or a dotted paper and decided to go with more dots!
Paper:  PTI white, bitty dot
Stamp:  Lawn Fawn Snow day
Ink:  PTI new leaf, pure poppy
copics:  warm grays and R20

Thanks for taking a look,
I have been taking the Online Card Class for Copics, so I have been busy coloring and not making many cards, it felt super great to get back to stamping!
Although I am loving the class...so much information and fantastic teachers!

Day 7 robot

Turned out I did have some of the colors suggested for this little "bat robot".
My black is almost dry, so it was a little difficult to get a good blend and to highlight.
I have only colored one of him so far...

Thanks for taking a look and watching my progress.
Three more days, and I think we will be making cards.

Heart Hugs friends!

Copics Day 7

Today we are coloring a robot and this flower.  Sandy was the instructor.
Now the robot, I am not sure about.  She used some "C" colors and I have two, but not enough to do any blending...I may give it a try with some "w's", but I did have fun with the flower.
I think I am getting the knack of blending!!

More copics practice Girls

Practicing with face, hair and clothes, trying to get the folds and pleats looking better.
I guess there is a reason why we practice anything, right?  to get better..so I will just keep on practicing...sure wish one of these talented ladies lived next door...*wink!

Day 6 copic Online Card Class

Okay, my critters need a LOT of work.  I had the most fun with the puppy, the second to the left I dabbed a dry wash cloth with a drop of colorless blender, it gives a mottled look to the fur.
As for the fox, I do NOT have a light hand when it comes to making hair streaks...so more practice for me!

Copic Day 5 a WHOLE person!!

Kathy Racoosin colored such a cute ballerina girl that was actually drawn by Kristina.
I can see I need to go back and use my colorless blender to get rid of some "out of the lines" colors!
And do you see her eyes?  A little (LOT) of wink of stella!over the eye shadow!

Okay, Sandy Allnock showed us this girl...oh my...she even had us shade for a nose!  My husband was impressed at least!  At first I had not colored in her hair...so she was an "old, white haired ballerina!"  but then I noticed I had a W7, C7 and a black (sorry, just noticed I didn't enter those numbers on the picture).  so I tried coloring her hair with what I had...this young chick certainly needed darker hair to be doing the twirling that she is doing!  *wink
I love that her eyes match her dress!

Okay, I think I have errands to run and things to do around here, so I better get busy!
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Copic Online Card Class Day 5 Skin, hair, clothes

First up is practicing with hair and faces.

Kristina does more of the feathering for hair, which makes it look like each strand of hair is visible.
Kelly Marie Alvarez (Lawn Fawn) colors faces and hair like she colors her "critters".
I showed my husband the results of my coloring and he thought the top right (orange) was kind of a strange color!  HA HA...I told him I didn't have the colors she used, so I improvised with a series of colors from the same family that I did have!  It actually reminds me of a wig my daughter got when she had chemo and lost all her hair...however the point was more of the "coloring" not the color!
And to see the shading etc...I know you all "get it"!!
I need lots more practice, so I am glad to have this weekend to do just that!

Okay I am off to try my hand at some clothing!!
Wish me luck!

Copic Online Card Class Day 4

Todays lesson was about directional and non-directional shading.
If you are interested at all in copic coloring, then you MUST take this class, the instructors are fabulous and give easy to follow directions...they break it down for you and now I feel I can make progress with coloring something that actually has shading...
Of course I still need lots and lots of practice, but I am loving this class.
You know you can sign up anytime and have access to the videos and instructions FOREVER!!

Copic Online Class Day 3

Still practicing which is just what I need!
Today was the best day so far, or maybe I am just getting it!
I do NOT own any "C" copic pens!
I used W2 or W4, I discovered W2 works better for lighter color pens than W4.
Who knew you could use C's or W's for shading..it is awesome!

Danielle really knocked it out of the park with this video.

Copic Online Card Class More Practice!

I think...I hope I am getting the hang of it now..
I enjoyed the videos and enjoyed coloring these birds and butterflies!
I even went back and colored all the balloons in random colors and those are looking better the second time around!
I just need to keep coloring for practice...
like riding a bicycle, right?...or a horse..or playing the piano (which I never did!)
and the bicycle...well, let's just say I have a reputation for finding the ditches!  ha!
Oh and the one time I took a horse riding lesson, I guess I gave the horse the wrong cue because he started to go up a huge pile of sawdust that was in the arena...that was too funny, but scary too!
Let's hope I am better at coloring than those other activities!!

I have two die cuts from Li'l Inkers Stitched rectangle Mats
and then of course RED!
This was really fun, I hope you will go check it out, the DT have an awesome collection of cards for your inspiration!

Inspired by Feathers

Inspired by Feathers and babies!!
PTI Feather Finery, Zing EP, Liquid Platinum EP
PTI Inside Out:  Baby
I cut just the edge of the feather and placed the strip of dotted paper on the inside

I stamped the feather with sweet blush for a soft feather, then used raspberry fizz for congratulations.
I have a friend who is going to be a grandma again...another baby girl, I thought I would send this to her daughter!

A baby card

About 10 days ago I showed a baby girl card here coloring all the balloons in shades of pink.
Today I am showing the one I made with shades of blue.
You are NOT surprised to see the cut out shape are you?
I warned you that I would be using it a lot!  *wink*

I had to selectively stamp the "BABY" because it was meant to be stamped horizontal.

Fall is in the Air!

Adding some Fall cards to my stash.
This is a sketch from Stamp Nation.

PTI paper, Phrase Play # 5 die cut "thankful",
MFT Fall Foliage, Lawn Fawn "So Thankful"

I have been wanting to do a layout inspired by Maile Belles and at the same time, do the layered stamping.  I used the MFT Fall Foliage again and inked up each leaf with two different colors.  I love how it gives depth and richness to the images.

Thanks for taking a look!

Merry Monday ~ the "words" have it!

The challenge this week at Merry Monday is to use your word or sentiment as the star of the card.
I die cut the "peace" and then embossed it TWICE with "WOW Pearl Gold Sparkle Embossing Glitter"!!  This baby sparkles!!  I inlaid it into the card.
I used some Recollection Foil paper for my two strips.
The dove is from PTI Peace Be Still stamp set.
Fine linen paper for the face of the card and white for the card.

Seize the Birthday ! Sweet Treats

The first thing I thought of when I saw "Sweet Treats" were PEACHES!  Sweet, juicy yummy peaches!  The topping for this Seize the Birthday Challenge  is SWEET TREATS if you don't want to do a topping, that is OKAY!  Just go with ANYTHING GOES!!
For this card I pulled out my set from last year's SAF called:  Scent-imentals.  I die cut one peach and stamped it using both summer sunrise and berry sorbet, then I stamped two of them on either side of the die cut.  The sentiment is also from that same set, however the background is a stamp from Beautiful Brushstrokes.  The Happy Birthday is a Think Big # 12 and it was embossed with black zing embossing paste.
I used  PTI Edgers Collection # 3 for the white die cut edge.

The topping is SWEET TREATS
Hope you are inspired to play along with this challenge and making something sweet for a birthday card!  Go check out the inspiration from the Design Team!

Another NBUS Challenge!!

I am sure there was NEVER any doubt in anyone's mind that
She maybe didn't think it would happen so soon, but we knew it, right?  She is ONE special lady, and that includes her little "hammy" too!
You will have to go to her blog to read the rules of this challenge just click on the highlighted words above and it will take you right there!  The acronym is one Darnell thought up all my herself!
Or did she have a little help...?
Never-Before-Used-Schtuff (Stamps, Dies, EFs, etc.)
I have a couple of "Never Before Used Schtuff"!!
The first is the cloud impression folder I have had a month or two, just never used!
The second is the bunny and balloons because it is NEW!  I just got it and had to ink it right up.

Darnell, you are a joy to read and get to know, if you ever take a road trip up north, you must look me up...perfect time of year to visit the Pacific Northwest and our coast is beautiful!!

I decided this would be a baby girl card, so I colored the balloons with many of the copics I have in those pretty pink/red shades.  I better do one in blues, too, huh?  Oh, and I added glossy accents to the balloons...oh it is so sweet and shiny in real life!!

Congrats on reaching another milestone, Darnell!!
I love watching your followers grow and even more I love your humor, your stories and your awesome talent!

Make it Monday

Laura Basson has a video over at
Use your die cuts as a template for sponging on a background color.  I happen to have a clear sheet of the mosaic from the SAF this last August and it was sitting right on my desk!
So I put it to good use!
I used aqua mist, Hawaiian shores and tropical teal and sponged it all over after I used versamark and clear embossing powder on the mosaic.
Thanks for the terrific video Laura!
Wet paint III is the die cut and sentiment!

TAG YOU'RE IT! Challenge # 5

Don't you love tags?
They can stand alone for a gift or go on a card!
You know, I told myself I would make a tag for every Christmas card I made so that I would build up my stash of Christmas tags...after all, we have to have a tag on each gift at Christmas, so that only makes sense to make one while making a card!  Yeah, well, maybe it is the age thing or something, because I didn't make very many Christmas tags...!
Here I used WPlus9 Merry & Bright

This was made with PTI Note Niblet...super quick and easy!

This was made with PTI Beautiful Brushstrokes
Super inspiration from the guest and the designers ...

More Lovely Leaves for the Curtain Call Challenge!

I have three aunts who live up in Washington and I try to send them a card every couple of months...so I thought I would go ahead and make all "leaf" cards for them!

The Stamps used are MFT:  Fall Foliage for both cards
the sentiment for the first card is from PTI Keep it Simple:  Thinking of YOU
The top card has a little glossy accents on the red berries and lots of clear Wink of Stella on the leaves and acorns!!  Very sparkly in real life!!

I will take the time to write out a nice long letter to each of them and let them know what is going on in my life and with my children and grandchildren.  They love getting these cards I make and I sure love being able to send them a card and give them a smile.
The aunts are 95, 92 and 91!
Have a great week!
