thank you cards

Wow!  What a HOT and HUMID place Tulsa, Oklahoma is!  We were there for 11 days to watch granddaughter, Ellie (13) play on the USA Continental High Performance Volleyball team.  She was the number one libero on her team...so exciting and fun to watch!  While they were practicing and making up the teams, we had some down time.  So my Husband and SIL played some golf.
They played at the Golf Club of Oklahoma and then they were able to play Southern Hills!!  To play at Southern Hills, they needed to be with a member...so through knowing people, they arranged to play with Scott Sutton who is the son of the legend Eddie Sutton who coached Division 1 BB for 36 years.  His son Scott coaches BB at Oral Roberts University.

Jamie and Scott at the First T at Southern Hills CC

Every hole had 2 or 3 of these huge fans to keep the moisture off the greens.
Scott said it was so loud you couldn't even talk when they were putting!

While the boys were golfing, Dina and I did a little mall walking.  We decided to go to the movies and kill a couple of hours.  We saw "Heaven is for Real"...beautiful story!  When I went up to the window to get our tickets I asked how much:  $2.50!!  for two of us!!  AYKM?? The next day we took the husbands to the same theater and it happened to be "senior" day, so Scott and I got in for 75 cents each!!  We saw 5 movies while in Tulsa...what else is one suppose to do when you are living out of a hotel room and it is too hot and humid to do much outdoor exploring?
Here is Ellie's team...she is number "2"
Ellie wants to send some "Thank You" cards to her two coaches, and the boys want to send the same to the men they played golf with...I was commissioned to make them!

Ellie's goal is to be on the Olympic team one day (she needs to grow quite a bit for that to happen I think!) and she just turned 13, so no telling where her interests may lie in the near future, probably NOT working out as much as she has to this point, but maybe...!  She is in the pipeline now, and this is her second year, but every year she has to try out again...so who knows where we will be next year...I am hoping Colorado or even Florida, anyplace but Oklahoma!!
Heart Hugs,

Seize the Birthday ~ Monochormatic Yellow

Hi everyone, this Seize the Birthday is all about Yellow!!  We are asking for a monochromatic card using yellow.  As always you can go without this topping and make "Anything Goes"!
The day before I went on a 12 day vacation, I received my Shakers & Sprinkles Kit from PTI.  I am excited to play with it a little more!  I used lemon tart, harvest gold and summer sunrise.  My sequins are random yellows.  I hope you will join us with this challenge.  Please check out the other cards by the design team!  To play along go to Seize the Birthday.

Seize the Birthday ~ Twine or string!

This time at Seize the Birthday  we are looking for twine or string on your birthday card!  That is the topping for this challenge.  You can always make ANYTHING GOES kind of card too!  Go check out the inspiration from the other DT's on the blog!
I have been loving the angled cards I have seen lately, so I decided to give it a try.
My posies are from MFT: Easter Bunny...of all places for these cute posies, huh?
The sentiment is a SSS from Birthday Balloons.
I used PTI supplies of white paper, pattern paper and pure poppy, new leaf, scarlet jewel inks.
The twine is from the Twinery!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.
Now go make yourself a birthday card and enter the challenge!
Remember the topping is TWINE or STRING!

I am in Tulsa, Oklahoma for 12 days with my husband, daughter, SIL and my 13 year old granddaughter.  Ellie was selected to be on the Continental Team for USA Volleyball.  She will be there for 10 days training and then playing in a tournament with girls from all over the world.
She is super excited and so honored to be one of just a few liberos selected from the entire US to join this group of athletes.  We are of course proud of her and excited to watch her play at a high level.
so you won't be seeing any crafting from me for the next couple of weeks!
Go out and make it a great day!

Colleen

Gone for a couple of weeks

Hi Friends, you will notice NO activity here on the blog for a couple of weeks.  My DH and I are traveling with older daughter, husband and granddaughter Ellie to Oklahoma.  She was selected by USA volleyball to be on a continental team which means 10 days in Tulsa OK.  Of course we couldn't think of sending a 13 year old by herself, so we are all going!!

Have a good two weeks and I will catch up with you all when I return home!!

MIM ~ Rainbow Medallions

Capture the Moment with a new Make it Monday video is up friends.  Dawn is showing a rainbow medallion, using stamps from your stash.  Go check it out!  I looked at a couple and decided on one from Embellishments.  I inked up the same colors that Dawn did...now my BFF will get a kick out of this, because I used a ruler and pencil to draw my lines to make a "T" so I would be sure to follow it straight and not get all wonky!  I decided to die cut the center circle out and then place a new white piece in the center (an inlay!), then I took a strip of paper and placed a narrow strip of the same colors in the rainbow and adhered them all at an angle on the piece of computer paper.  Then I die cut the word "hello" from Wet Paint and voila...all done!  I kind of like this...different but fun and cheery!

Go out and make it a great day!

Muse # 75 and Seize the Sketch

Both of these challenges are by Vicki Dutcher!
I used Distress Inks (evergreen bough, peacock feathers, peeled paint) and sponged them on the card.
then I laid down a MFT Spring flowers Stencil and sponged on some perfect pearls,  as you know, the distress inks react with the water!  I added some Viva White Pearl Pen to the centers of the flower and also a couple of spots on the birthday frame.

This card is for the sweetest lady ever...my Aunt who will be 94 in less than a week.  I think she will like this shaker card.

I am entering this into the two challenges, designed by the same person!!

 thanks for taking a look!
I have 6 more days to create then I am gone for 12 days...going to Oklahoma!

Heart Hugs,
Colleen

Festive Friday # 35

I pulled out my distress inks and watercolor brush to make my own plaid Christmas wrap.  I embossed the "string" from PTI No Strings Attached and added a tag.
If you want to get a jump start on your Christmas cards, you can go to Festive Friday and play along.
We are having another HOT day here in Oregon,
this seems more like August than July!
Love the sun, though!

Merry Monday # 116

We are finally home after almost 3 weeks being gone.
This card is for the Merry Monday Challenge  and they are asking for green and white.
I made my own gift wrap by stamping a little tree all over the paper, then I white embossed the strings and bow from No Strings Attached (PTI).
Feels good to be inky again!!
I am only home 8 days and I leave again for 12 days!
I am going to have some serious withdrawals, I think!!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.
Hope you all are having a great summer!

Colleen

A Special Birthday Blog Hop

I am on vacation in HOT Scottsdale, Arizona and I had a few minutes to check out some of my favorite blogs.  I saw on Marybeth's blog that it is Darnell's birthday and a bog hop is going on!  Oh, how could I not wish this fabulous lady a very Happy Birthday?  Fortunately I have a few birthday cards on my One Drive, so I was able to access them.  This card I made just before leaving on my trip and I thought it was perfect for Darnell...a rose for a Rose of a Person!!  It is a PTI stamp... Block Botanicals...I colored it with copies and I actually cut out the flower and used dimensional to reattach it to the card.  Darnell, I wish you the most merriest of Birthday's and I just want you to know how special you are to me and I am sure many many more that read your blog or are the recipient of your kind and thoughtful comments.

So Happy Birthday, Dear Blog Friend!!

If you want to join in the fun and celebrate Darnell's birthday through this blog hop, you can go HERE to the Party Orangizer to link up.

It is quite HOT here in Scottsdale Arizona.  We were here for a volleyball tournament for my two granddaughters... both daughters and their families came, so we had a house of 12 of us for part of the time!  Ellie's team took third in the 14 and under division.  Lily's team took 20th.  We had great fun watching them!

Seize the Birthday ~ Stars or Stripes!!

I have a dear friend whose birthday is actually July 5th.
I decided to go with the stars and make it a shaker card
to send to her!
