One seed can start a garden, one candle can light a room, one step can begin a journey, one conversation can start a friendship, one smile from a handmade card can lift one's SPIRIT!

Merry Monday # 113

PINK, WHITE AND SILVER
I love pink white and silver...such pretty Christmas colors!
I had to play before I leave on vacation.
I won't be back until July 7th, friends!
Yikes!  I am going to have some withdrawals for sure!
I am bringing things to practice my copics
and some watercolor projects too.
So maybe when I get home, I will have some things to put together and then to post for you to see.
If you want to get a head start on your Christmas card making, then for sure go
I am heading to Arizona...I know... hot time of the year to be going there, right?
But it is a BIG end of the season volleyball tournament for both granddaughters,
and my husband coaches Lily's team..so of course we have to be there!
Both daughters and their families will be there also, then we are going to stay and play by the pool and do other fun stuff.
So if I don't make it in here tomorrow, then I will see you in a few weeks!

Heart Hugs,
Colleen

And Yet another MIM

I'm so sorry, I can't help myself!!
I am going to be having some major stamping withdrawals in about 4 days so I am trying to get in as much as I can right now!
Here is another Make it Monday Card  as seen on the video by Melissa.
I had to try the Pretty Peonies with the IP linen/canvas...lovely texture!
I used pink, red and green chalk and then inked up the flowers with Pure Poppy and the leaves with new leaf...some stamped off once.
the frame was die cut with vellum and heat embossed with white filigree and the sentiment is from Bigger Blooms embossed with Ranger Liquid Platinum Powder.

Okay, I will try to move on now to something else!
Thanks again friends for taking a look and leaving a comment, we all do love those little words that tug at our hearts and make us feel so good!!
Heart Hugs,
Colleen

Can you stand ONE more MIM?

I have been wanting to try this layout technique from Maile for quite some time and decided today was the day!  I hope you all aren't tired of seeing this Make it Monday technique here on my blog.
Like I said, I pulled out a bunch of my IP ( I don't have that many) and impressed the papers, then laid the papers out with my chalk and daubers and went to town...then it was a matter of stamping them.  So this is the wood grain as you can see, I used Garden Grace for my stamps and sliced through it for the sentiment (which is from Botanical Blocks).
If you have some chalk in your stash now is the time to pull it out and use it.
Last March when my BFF was here, we went to Craft Warehouse in  Gresham OR and spotted a box of firm round spongie things...we asked if they worked good for daubing, and was told yes, but they aren't soft, so they don't squish, but man they work great for chalk!

Thanks again for taking a look,
hope you all have a great week!

Heart Hugs,
Colleen

My Third card for MIM

Can you tell I liked this technique??
Thanks, Melissa for having us pull out our chalks!
This is a PTI impression plate
and the Beautiful Butterflies stamped over it.
I embossed the sentiment with Ranger Liquid Platinum powder.
I decided NOT to add a vellum over the top because I really like seeing the design through the butterflies.
I hope you will go HERE to watch the video and play along with this technique of using an
Impression Plate, Chalk and your stamps!
Heart Hugs,
Colleen

Another MIM card

I liked this technique!
So I pulled out a few IP and made the impressions,
then I lined them up and used chalk to color them in
This was kind of fun with all the circles, I decided it needed balloons.
I used Birthday Style and stamped the balloon in many different colors,
I embossed the one on vellum with zing apricot powder.
I hope you will give this a try; you can watch the video HERE .

We have sun, then it gets dark and rains, then the sun again...
what a day!!

Make It Monday # 169 CHALKS, STAMPS, AND IP!

Head over to Capture the Moment  for a new Make it Monday video.
Melissa first uses an impression plate (or cuttlebug folder),
then she daubs on different colors of chalk,
and finally she stamps over the chalk...lovely effect.
This is the first of a few that I chalked up.
I used a dot cuttlebug and added about three different colors of chalk, greens and blues .
Then I stamped over the chalked dots with the fern from Meadow Greens in Tropical Teal.
I added a strip of blueberry sky to the top and bottom of the fern and
embossed the sentiment with white filigree.
My butterfly is also embossed from Fancy Flourishes and die cut from Beautiful Butterflies.
thanks for taking a look...great way to start out the week!!

Heart Hugs,
Colleen

CAS(E) this Sketch

Another Father's Day card...still a golf theme.
Still using the PTI On the Links

Thanks for taking a look!
Gotta run...going to the race track to watch my 14 and 5 year old grandsons race in Motocross!!

MFT ~ A Father's day card

Three down, three to go!
I have some golfers in the family!
My dad used to golf, but not for many years...
my one SIL is a fisherman or hunter...so his will definitely be different!
this time I used the sketch from My Favorite Things
MFTWSC180
Okay, off to make three more!
We are celebrating on Saturday with a Taco bar brunch...
that frees up everyone to celebrate on Sunday with the other Father's!
I used PTI On The Link's stamp set.

Freshly Made Sketches # 140

I needed to make a whole bunch of Father's Day cards...my father,
my two brothers, my two SIL, my Husband...wait, why do I make my DH a card?
Shouldn't that card come from the daughters???
Well, he is a great father and I sure appreciate that, so I should let him know!
I get easily bored with making the same card and since we are all gathering to celebrate my DAD,
I thought I should change up the cards a bit...so I went searching for sketches.
I used three strips of green...PTI spring moss, limeade ice, simply chartreuse
the golf club is from On the Links
Sentiment is Wet Paint I and On the Links (selectively stamped)
the little 'golf ' balls are sequins!

Thanks for taking a look...
now on to more cards!

CAS(E) this Sketch # 79

A very different sketch for me this time at CAS(E) this Sketch.
But I thought I needed to break out of my comfort zone.
I pulled out PTI Autumn Pattern Pieces and stamped them in almost a rainbow color...
I was missing a few of the colors because I ran out of room on the card!!
Then I took a SSS set called Thanks and embossed the sentiments over the stamped image.
Pretty quick and easy.

Thanks for taking a look, I hope you will go see what the DT made...their cards are pretty awesome and inspiring!

Paper Players # 199

You still have time to play at Paper Players
RED, WHITE, AND BLUE
Of course this has to be 4th of July!
And since I need to send out cards to my aunts, I thought this was the perfect colors to use!
I used PTI Red, White and Blue stamp set
I embossed with some Zing Red and some Filigree white powder

Colleen

Seize the Sketch # 22 and CASology 99

This time I used the sketch from Seize The Sketch by Lori.
And the inside of the card!

I am also going to enter this in the
CASology Challenge  # 99 "Anniversary"

the pattern paper is from Doodlebug:  hello spring
the die is a PTI heart border die

CASology # 99 ~ Anniversary

Since my daughter's 15th anniversary is coming up next Thursday, this prompted me to make an anniversary card for her! (Thinking she will want it...not for me to give to her and DH!)
The stamp set is from Li'l Inkers called: It's Today, Right?
I kind of fell in love with those little stick people,
I think I could maybe draw some like that!  *wink

and the inside...oh so sweet, they are kissing...

this is going to the  CASology Challenge and the cue word is
ANNIVERSARY.

So may great cards and ideas from the DT..go check it out!

PS..my daughter didn't select this one, she picked another one using this same set though...
it was a picture of the happy couple, he on his knees and the sentiment says:
BEST. MOVE. EVER.
Heart Hugs,
Colleen

MIM # 168 Baby Wipe Stamping & Time Out Challenge

I declare this to be a really fun and cool technique.
I hope y'all will go check out the video HERE  by Ashley.
I used Rosie Posie and Wet Paint III.
My reinkers for the flowers were:
pure poppy, hibiscus burst, harvest gold
For the leaves I used simply chartreuse and new leaf.

I am also entering this in the Time Out Challenge # 7
SUMMER
with the optional twist of a FLOWERS

Heart Hugs everyone!
Colleen

SPECIAL CARD FOR A SPECIAL LADY

I bet you all know DARNELL,  right?
She now has 500 followers!!  WOW, I can see why, she is so talented and so gifted with the pen..
OH!  I mean the keyboard.
Seriously that girl can put a giggle in you any time of the day, go check her out
and if you are not already a follower, then join her blog...you will NOT be disappointed!
She has a few rules to follow and the most important one is it has to be NBUS!!
She made up that acronym!!

It stands for: never-before-used-schtuff!!
So Yes, my sweet little Lawn Fawn set Year Four has been sitting in my basket for months, so it qualifies for this challenge!
I pulled out a few other stamp sets too, PTI:  Little Bitty Birdie for the sentiment; Garden Variety for the grass, Paper Smooches for the pole the bird is sitting on; Back Pocket Basics for the sun, and Up, Up and Away for the cloud!
Six stamp sets to make this one little bitty card for Darnell!
I colored with copics.
CONGRATULATIONS, Darnell,
I have a feeling you will be hosting another challenge in the very near future!!

Merry Monday & The Challenge

I don't have many images with a Santa Hat...or even Santa's with clear images of hats.
How is that possible?

I did have a Paper Smooches stamp called Merry Motifs that had a Santa Hat...so off and running I went with that one little tamp.
I decided to use the sketch from HERE  and play along with The Challenge while still making my Merry Monday  Christmas card!

All solid papers are PTI, the pattern paper is from Lawn Fawn:  Peace, love, joy
the "Believe" is from PTI stamp set:  Believe
also used Li'l Inkers stitched mats rectangles and ovals
Oh, used copics to color the hat and some diamond stickles for the trim on the hat!

Thanks for taking a look!
Hope you all have a wonderful week!
Heart Hugs,
Colleen

Another DIY Notebook

The hardest part of making these little notebooks is cutting all the paper!!
This time I decided to try some colored computer paper that I had on a shelf..
I wanted to see how it would hold up.
My cover is still PTI white, the back is still chipboard and the striped paper is from Tropical Teal pattern pack.
I added a few more sheets of the computer inside paper just because it was thinner and took up less volume, because of the added paper I did NOT stamp on the inside sheets like I did the on the first ones I made.  Still pretty cute, huh?
Oh, and it still holds the paper just fine!
I used PTI Scrapbook Ledger and Happy Trails for the pencils and sentiment.
I embossed the sentiment and pencil with zing embossing powder...aqua and brown.
the pattern paper was cut with an EK success postage stamp die.
If you haven't already tried out this technique, head over to Capture the Moment
and watch the video presented by Erin...pretty easy peasy!
Have a great day!

Seize the Birthday: Summer Theme

Are we all anxious for summer and the heat to get here?
The first thing I want to do is take off these shoes and socks and put on my flip flops!
Seize the Birthday Challenge is all about SUMMER this time around, so think camping, beach,
pool...you get the idea....just make sure it is a birthday card!

You can always go with NO topping and just make it a birthday card!

Summer is the TOPPING!

supplies:  PTI paper
stamp and dies: PTI Flippin' Out
pattern paper:  Doodlebug:  Hello Spring
ink:  Fresh Ink Pigment:  French lavender, peach

MIM # 167: DIY Notebooks

Well, I have to admit I didn't think I would be doing this weeks MIM, but then I saw THESE and knew I needed to give it a try!  Usually my two daughters ask me to make something for the kiddos to give to their teachers...so I thought I would jump the gun (Yeah, like there is a lot of time before school is out!!) and get these done maybe 7 days ahead of schedule!!  I made 6 of these...decided to keep it simple for me and make them all the same.

And now I really like these and think I may make a few more for some special people!!

If you want to watch the video go HERE  and see Erin showing how to put these cute little DIY Notebooks together!
