One seed can start a garden, one candle can light a room, one step can begin a journey, one conversation can start a friendship, one smile from a handmade card can lift one's SPIRIT!

Colour Q Challenge # 239

I laid down some painters tape on two sides and then sponged on my colors,
sure looks bolder and brighter in the picture than it is in real life?
I used PTI Sweet Blush, Berry Sorbet, and Orange Zest
the image and sentiment were done in Ripe Avocao.
I mounted it on a ripe avocado card base.

You can go HERE  to play along.

Thanks for taking a look!
And we have sun and warmth!
Suppose to be in the 80's for the next few days!!

Heart hugs,
Colleen

Merry Monday ~ run run as fast as you can!

It's all about the Gingerbread boy or girl!!
I used Lawn Fawn's "Sweet Christmas" stamp set.
I fussy cut those little gingerbread people and colored them with copics.
The fun little "sweet" treats are colored in also and stickles added to the 'gumdrops' and glossy accents are added to the round mints to make them all shiny!
I used PTI heart dies and all PTI paper!
Go to the Merry Monday Challenge and be inspired by all the designers work!

Thank you for taking a look
and I want to give a heartfelt thanks for leaving all the sweet comments on the blog.
Kind words can really lift a spirit, can't it?
If only we would all do more of that to each other,
what a wonderful world this would be!
I stopped in at the oncology office and left some
Random Acts of Kindness the other day...
two dark chocolate treats with an inspirational quote
all bagged up in a glassine bag with washi tape to close it
and the word:  HOPE stamped on the bag!

Go out and make it a good day for someone!
Heart Hugs,
Colleen

The Challenge & Card Conncept

You know I am just loving the sketches provided by Lesley at Always Playing with Paper
and this time I decided to join it with the Card Concept challenge # 8...use and umbrella
The sentiment and umbrella are from Wplus9,
the pattern paper is Doodlebug:  Hello Spring

Thanks for taking a look, I have a full weekend of volleyball.
It is the regional championships, both granddaughters are playing in the same location,
and fortunately it is in town at the Portland convention Center!
At least we don't have an hour drive (or more!) to get there!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Colleen

MIM # 161 and Merry Monday

Here is what I came up with:
I wanted something peaceful...I chose aqua mist,
Hawaiian shores and tropical teal.
the stars are from Super Stars.

I am also going to enter this in the Merry Monday Challenge
asking for a decorated Christmas word on your card...mine just happens to be sponged and then die cut.

Thanks for taking a look!
Heart Hugs,
Colleen

Seize the Birthday ~ No toppings!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
DEAR JODENE,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
TO YOU!!
Today we are celebrating a birthday of one of our own!
I hope you will stop by Jodene's blog  and give her some birthday wishes.
This is for you Jodene!!

I liked the No Sew Quilted card from the Make it Monday (a PTI video) a couple of weeks ago and thought this would make a lovely card with some soft flowers...and make it feminine...at first I was thinking a Mother's Day card, but decided to make this one for the special birthday card today.
I cut each square 1.5 inches, used four pattern pieces and rustic white.
I laid them all out on the diagonal and taped them to another piece of paper with less weight (not computer paper though, that is too thin.)
After all the pieces were adhered, I cut off the excess hanging over the sides.
Then I ran it through the cuttlebug using a PTI hexagon cutting plate, but by using the soft mat I was able to get an impression instead of a cut.
I hope you will go HERE to Seize the Birthday Challenge Blog and play along with us...
This is an "ANYTHING GOES" CHALLENGE!

PTI paper:  rustic white, MME:   fine and dandy, berry sorbet
stamps: PTI Sweet Life, Side by Side Sentiments
ink:  sweet blush, berry sorbet, aqua mist

Merry Monday # 105 Decorative Christmas Words

Decorative Christmas Words
to be used on our
On a piece of rustic cream cardstock, I stamped the poinsettias and leaves from  PTI's Peaceful Poinsettia stamp set.
Next I die cut the word:  "holiday" from the stamped card.
I then cut out the word in both black and pure poppy.
I laid the black piece inside the negative space, layered the red over it and slightly off,
then placed the die cut stamped word over that, again slightly off.
the "greetings" is from PTI's Stylish Sentiments:  Christmas

Thanks for taking a look!

Merry Monday & The Challenge

I finally had time to play this afternoon in the craft room...I definitely wanted to play with the Merry Monday Challenge # 104 ...I missed it last week!  And forgive me Lesley, I am taking a little creative license with your sketch for The Challenge # 4 the legs of the "buck" are taking the place of the banners!!  And my "any shape is at the bottom instead of the top corner!
Paper:  PTI rustic cream, kraft, kraft pattern stripes, MFT steel gray
stamps:  PTI Masucline Motif, Winter Hills
dies:  Impression Obsession:  Deer Trio
versamark and white embossing powder

This was a difficult one because the colors were rather challenging!!

Thanks for taking a look, I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week!

Heart Hugs,
Colleen

MIM # 159 No Sew Quilted Cards

Hi friends!  I am back from a wonderful trip to the south!  we spent one day at Augusta walking the golf course and watching a practice round of the Masters!!...that would be for my husband!  Then we drove to Savannah and spent a day and a half there before heading to Charleston and Mount Pleasant, then heading back to Savannah for another night, then to Atlanta for the trip home...just enough to wet my appetite for more of that southern hospitality and WEATHER!  Today, Sunday, after church I spent the day in the gym watching a granddaughter play a volleyball tournament and such a shame, the weather was perfect...sunny, blue skies and 72 degrees...reminded me of the south!  As soon as I got home, I wanted to try that MIM with the no sew quilted card...was hoping to combine it with the Merry Monday, but that challenge is already closed, so her is the card I made:
I selected some pattern paper from Lawn Fawn:  Peace, joy love.
The little snowman is from the Tremendous Treats:  Christmas colored with copics
I used the circle impression plate for my "quilted" look!

Thanks for taking a look...it is midnight eastern time, so must be time for bed...
hopefully I can play with some more challenges tomorrow!

Heart Hugs,
Colleen

Colour Me # 14 & Card Concept #7

I know this looks really red almost, but it is definitely an orange.
I sponged the flowers from a stencil, starting with bright orange zest
and then going with a lighter hand and less of the ink for the remaining flowers.
I am entering this in both the colour Me # 14

I just wanted to show you the card...I was having some editing issues and it would not let me crop or edit this card, so I started all over, but truly the colors are what you are asking for...more pumpkin than red!

Either way, I do like the card and using one color is pretty striking!
stamps:  PTI Wet Paint, Butterfly Dreams
ink:  PTI orange zest
stencil:  MFT spring flowers

Friends, I am going to be out of the craft room for almost a week
My husband and I are going to a practice round of the Master's Golf in Augusta, Ga,
That is just one day, then we are going down to Savannah and spend a couple of days, then head to Charleston, SC for another couple of days before we drive up to Atlanta and see some of the sights and explore that city.
So I will be able to play a little bit more today, but if I don't check back in, have a good week and I will see you all sometime during Easter Week!

Heart Hugs,
Colleen
