One seed can start a garden, one candle can light a room, one step can begin a journey, one conversation can start a friendship, one smile from a handmade card can lift one's SPIRIT!

Freshly Made Sketches #45

This is the sketch for this week, if you want to play go HERE...it is a fun sketch!  I made my own background paper with the two sizes of the "posies" using PTI's sweet blush paper and ink.   The pocket and flowers are from Back Pocket Basics. "The flowers are stamped with hibiscus burst and the pocket is stamped with blueberry sky...the twine is from the twinery.  I added some pink gems to the center of the three posies in the pocket!

Colour Q Challenge # 147

These are the colors for this challenge, I used PTI's colors,  simply chartreuse, aqua mist, hibiscus burst and blueberry sky.   the sentiment is from Think big # 2.

CAS-ual Fridays # 63 using three colors

Create a Clean And Simple project using the challenge colors:  lime, aqua & navy

I needed a baby card for a friend who has a first grandchild...a little boy and she is really excited about this little baby.  Unfortunately, her daughter, husband and baby live in Colorado and she lives here in Oregon!  His name is Grady, so I used the elephant from PTI's Sweet Pea, stamped in chartreuse green, blueberry sky, and aqua mist.  Then I pulled out the Heart 2 Heart # 5 and die cut the banners in the same color paper and stamped his letters on each one.  The Welcome stamp is from Wreath for all Seasons...and I couldn't resist using the heart die for a 'grassy' border!  Thanks for taking a look!  Have a great weekend!

Tags and a Tin

Linda and I are still working on some SAF projects...and the latest is some tags to go into a tin...I made 12 tags, stamped them all first with the "crackle" stamp, then I added hydrangeas, peonies, and butterflies with random sentiments...a very nice gift for sure!

The die is Half & Half, folded in half, a small hole punched in the corner for the Twinery Twine (LOVE that twine!)...that is all...except that this tin is already sold to a friend!  yahoo!

July 2012 Blog Hop

Blog-hop-inspiration
The color challenge this month is very summery and pretty...Hope you all are having a warm and sunny summer!  Here in Oregon we are having 80+ degree days...Yahoo!!

More card sets...Betsy's idea

I used Turning a New Leaf and die cut only part of the leaves from a 2 inch pattern paper, then stamped with the same leaf using the same color as the paper...I made 8 cards for this set and used an assortment of sentiments...the packaging is done with a paper lunch sack, die cut at both ends and stitched at the bottom...fun times making all these cards.

This is a beautiful technique...all the cards look so elegant...I have now made two sets with this technique...the Happy hydrangea was another great die for this technique...my BFF made two sets using the Pretty Peonies and also the Beautiful Butterflies... you should try it, you will like it and if you want to watch Betsy (she used Harvest berries die and stamp sets...gorgeous)  do this technique go HERE.

Stamp-a-faire Camp Card Set Challenge

Correspondence-BadgeThese are the cards for the Card Set Challenge...I followed Betsy's technique and LOVED it...so unique and beautiful...I used the Happy Hydrangea and bitty dot paper and used the same color ink as the paper...my sentiments are from Pretty Peonies in Kraft Ink...

Stamp-a-faire Tie-Dye Techniques & Stamp-a-faire Homemade Embellishments

Rainbow-BadgeDIY-Badge
I am doing two challenges with one card...the Tie-dye challenge was really quite fun...it was done with shaving cream and re-inkers.  The butterflies are part of the Homemade embellishment challenge.  I followed Dawn's technique of layering several sizes of butterflies, adding a button and some twine and I am calling it good!!  The sentiment is from Year of Flowers:Violets.

Stamp-a-faire Camp Card Set Challenge - another idea

Correspondence-BadgeI had another idea using this same technique...I used the STAR die and made this card...now I am going to make a set of them...I just love this set...it can for given to just about anyone...!
This has been such an awesome SAF...my friend Linda and I are still going strong...gosh, she was up before 8 am in my studio making a set of stamps from Betsy's Card Set Challenge...I didn't roll into the room until almost 9:30 am...wow, I am must have been tired!!  So I am playing 'catch-up' with her!  So the fun is still going on here in West Linn, Oregon and we plan to continue going for a whole week!  We see each other about twice a year...she is in Seattle and I am down here.  But wonderful news from Linda is that she is going to be able to retire on November 1...she is beyond excited about that and so looking forward to her retirement...so we may just be seeing more of each other in the years to come!  So keep on PTI...we love this time with YOU!!

Stamp-a-faire Camp Card Set Challenge

Correspondence-Badge"The art of letter writing seems to be disappearing with the arrival of fast-pace technology, texting & email.  We invite you create a card set today, to give as a gift or to keep for yourself, in an effort to keep the tradition of a handwritten note alive!"  Those were the instructions from Nichole...I absolutely LOVED the card Jessica showcased...so of course I CAS'd it!
I used the Beautiful Butterflies, but my sentiment is from Pretty Peonies...and I changed up the sentiment as you can see..I used the "hello, my dear friend" and "happy birthday to you"....lots of great sentiments in the Pretty Peonies set that fit so well inside the embossed butterfly.  Although I do LOVE all the sentiments for Beautiful Butterflies, they just all wouldn't fit inside..I love this size card also...perfect little size for just dropping a quick note!

Stamp-a-faire Limited Supply Challenge

Craft-Conservation-Badge
  • STAMPS: Natural Beauties only (or another floral set as a substitute if needed)
  • PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse
  • RIBBON: Hawaiian Shores Bitty Dot
  • BUTTONS: Simply Chartreuse                                                                                                       Okay, following the directions, I am suppose to use a very limited supply of colors and paper...so I started with the Sending You stamp set and used the three designated colors..I added a little strip of hawaiian shores ribbon...and I did NOT use a button...darn, forgot about that...but I love the card and think it is really pretty...I love the color combinations.

Papertrey Ink - LIGHTS OUT!

What a fun day we had and we are not even close to being done!!  We have so much more to complete, we thank you all so much for your contribution, time, talents and inspiration!  Here is a picture of Linda and me with the few completed cards that we made...the mess is behind us...lots of ribbon and inks all out on the counter...Thanks again.
Well, we do have a couple of other cards, but we couldn't hold them all...and Linda is sorry that she was holding Erin's ribbon challenge card upside down...and we could NOT call DH back to take another picture (I had my eyes closed with the first and he wasn't happy about a redo!)

Light-outGood night and thanks for a most FABULOUS day...you can count on us being right here next year with more of your stamps, inks, paper, ribbons and YOU!

Melissa's Ribbon Challenge...leaves!

Knots-BadgeAnother Ribbon Challenge....Melissa demonstrated making three different kinds of "leaves" using grosgrain ribbon...fun (my BFF didn't like making those leaves, although she did just fine with it!).  I thought the 'knotted' leaf was really unique and liked it a lot.  I made two of them and put them off to the side.  My flowers are from Beautiful Blooms II...layered on a doily.  Spring rain and Blueberry sky are the ink colors...Thanks for taking another look...fun fun day...

SAF Ribbon Challenge

Knots-BadgeThe Ribbon Challenge...well, it was called a challenge for a reason, right?  So after trying Betsy's (which BTW, I LOVED her card and the ribbon flower technique)...I just couldn't do it!  I guess I am ribbon challenged!  (Don't worry I will NOT give up...I will just have to practice at my leisure!)

So on to Erin's ribbon challenge...straight ribbons...no problem...I chose ocean tides, aqua mist and lemon tart for my three colors of ribbon (mainly because that is what I had in the twill ribbon...ha!)  I used the "happy" die from Pretty Peonies...just cut in lemon tart paper...no stamping...and of course I didn't have matching buttons, so I pulled out the button die and made my own!

Are you all having fun?  My BFF and I are way behind, but we figure we have a couple of days to get things made and posted...we are enjoying the moments and NOT stressing at all...such fun!  Thanks PTI and ALL you wonderful CREATIVE AND TALENTED ladies of the dream ...I mean DESIGN TEAM!!

Stamp-a-faire Opening Ceremony & Morning Make-n-Take

Good morning all...a late start, but better lat than never, right??  so here is the first card...
I used Simple Sunflower stamp and also a little flower from Beautiful Blooms II...LOVE it...can hardly wait to make more...bring it on...having fun and the sun is starting to come out!  Yeah, a great day all around!  What could be better?  Sun and a good friend to share the PTI inspiration day!

Stamp-a-faire Friday Night Campfire Meet & Greet

 http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c64e753ef0177437a646d970d-pi

GREETINGS FROM PORTLAND, OREGON!!  My BFF, Linda came down from Seattle to spend the week with me and to participate in the SAF!!  Yeah, we are super excited!   So DH took a picture of the two of us in my "studio"...HI everyone!!

Stamp - a - faire...let the fun begin

http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c64e753ef0177437a646d970d-pi
Yummmy!!  I had some of those JUMBO marshmallows and my BFF Linda brought some DARK CHOCOLATE...so we put one half of the graham cracker in the oven and placed two pieces of the dark chocolate, when it started to melt, we added the marhsmallow and let it brown up in the oven...oh so good, we wished we had more...but I only borrowed two whole graham crackers from my neighbor (which happens to be my daughter...my grand daughter Lily brought them over for me)...oh well, there is always tomorrow, right?

We are sooo excited about this event...we had such a fabulous time last year when we actually traveled to Cincinnati...Our first stop was Chicago where we went to the TransWorld JF&A  show...not the real CHA but right next door...it was a blast...and then we met up with Taheerah from England (Little Miss T) and Amber (Damask Love) and Dawn (Too much yarn and paper).  We had such a fun road trip with those girls and Dawn was our driver and navigator....and afterwards we even stayed at Dawn's house for a night before catching our plane home.  Such wonderful friendships and memories from that event!

Clean And Simple card using a black card base

CAS-ual Fridays is all about using a black card base...this stamp is a reverse stamp image, so black memento ink was used and I kept the flowers and leaves all white...a little pop of red with the fillable frames.

Stretching Your Stamps...Day 2

This card was made using some Hero Arts card and envie...I stamped the butterflies first with versamark onto the blue card front, then with a brush I put some perfect pearls on it...I stamped the butterflies with memento black ink and colored them in with distress inks...I adhered the butterflies only in the center and lifted them up a bit so you can see the underneath image...the sentiment is PTI Think big # 3.

Make It Monday #75: Roll the Die Challenge Card # 2

I tried one more time to make a card...I think I would select different stamps next time...but I guess that is why it is called Roll the die challenge...so this time I rolled horizontal, #5 layout (lots of strips...yikes!) Pretty Peonies, Harvest Berries, my color scheme needed to include:  berry sorbet, ripe avocado, raspberry fizz and vintage cream...and lastly GLITTER!!
Well, here it is..I used versamark for the harvest berries on the berry sorbet paper...the Happy and birthday are from Pretty Peonies...it is hard to see in the photo but I also used the berries and versamark on the raspberry fizz bitty square paper...This is not my favorite card, I think it is the layout...or maybe it is my selection of paper...maybe it is all THINGS!!  I wonder if I can do a "redo" on this...kind of like what the DT are doing for those who asked for a remake of an old card...hmmm...I think there is lots that can be done to fix this card!  HA!

colourQ:challenge # 146

Here is my take on this colour challenge!  I stamped Rosie Posie and added some red stickles and some glossy accents to the petals of the flowers (kind of hard to see, but it looks like dew drops in real life!)  The sentiment is from Think big # 5.  All products are PTI.  And if you would like to join in the fun with this color challenge then go HERE to see the inspiration from the DT members and to link up your card for this challenge.

Make It Monday #75: Roll the Die Challenge

Rolling the Die Challenge...what does it mean?  Well, first thing I did was fill out the sheet from the download on Nichole's blog...then you roll the dice to see what numbers come up.  I rolled a "6" three times!  Can you believe it?  So I was to do the # 6 layout, Use Pretty Peonies, Beautiful Blessings, blueberry sky, dark chocolate, and summer sunrise colors and ribbon...I did it!  Check mark next to everything!  I hope you will give it a try...go to Nichole's blog and check it out!

What a fun twist on the MIM!  Way to go Erin!

CAS-ual Fridays

CFC61: Use strips of color or pattern in your Clean And Simple creation
This is a really simple and clean card...I used three strips of washi tape and a sentiment from Signature Series:  Dress Form, a PTI stamp.
The top strip is a silhouette of a lady, then Friend forever and finally just a purple narrow strip...couldn't be easier!

Another card for the Stretching Your Stamps Class Day 2

This card was demonstrated by Amber Daigre...four squares stamped with butterflies, she colored hers in with markers, I chose to use Beautiful Butterflies and use the rock n' roll method with two colors for each butterfly...then I distressed the edges with PTI tea duo dies.  I mounted the four pieces of black paper and mounted that on a white one.  All of that went onto a black card...the sentiment was white heat embossed.
I am in need of more 'thank you' cards...so I am working on that!  Thanks for looking!  Hope you have a blessed day!

Lily's Bag

My profile mentions that I have six grandchildren and that at least one of them has the love of all things crafty.  For Lily's 9th birthday she wanted to make a new school bag....she made one last year, but it was small, could maybe hold one book...so this time she was thinking BIG!  On her birthday in June we went to the fabric store and she selected a black and white zebra print and a very pretty fine print in a chartreuse green!  Her idea was for the bag to be zebra striped and the lining to be the green...so I set off to find a suitable pattern that would be somewhat easy for her to make.  She did all the sewing, I did the cutting, she also did the ironing...and she sewed on two of the buttons and stitched around two of the flowers...I finished off the rest of it..this is her creation:
Lily also decided the straps should be green...so we went with that ...  The big pocket outside the bag has her initial and then some PTI die cut fabric flowers and a few buttons in the center...the inside of the bag, which I don't have a picture, has two pockets, one on each side...one has three slotted spaces for pens, pencils etc. and the other is not as deep, but wider for whatever else she feels she needs to keep in there!
Good Job, Lil's...very proud of you!  Lily is a sweetie for sure!

CAS-ual Fridays

CFC61: Use strips of color or pattern in your Clean And Simple creation

Go HERE to see the DT's cards and read about the awesome prize for this week!

CFC61

I used PTI's Ribbon Tails stamped with aqua mist, spring moss and melon berry.  The sentiment and heart is from Hero Arts stamped in pure poppy.
